Obviously i haven't seen 'The Rabble' play.. But i downloaded their songs, under the impression it was going to be some really raw crust punk. Unfortunately for me, they sound almost exactly like Rancid. They may take that as a complement, so i guess this post wasnt too deconstructive.

A few people have commented that their sound is similar to Rancid - I don't hear it myself, I find the ska influence in Rancid irritating after about 3 songs, but thats just me - not big on ska...I like Rancid, just not the ska-ish bits.
What (Auckland) or elsewhere bands do you think are worth checking out at the mo?

I don't think I have seen any other punk bands in Auckland quite like the rabble. I don't listen to rancid, but the rabbles music sounds real old school. I love their covers also. I'm no punk, but I can still sing to them.

Great looking site. I haven't actually heard any of the Rabble. Oh, i heard them on T.V for the finals but i can't remember what the sound like. I'm d/ling songs now :)

heh heh - this is gonna sound real dumb, but we made a standard band website, you know blah blah just like everyone elses and then thought fuck that - lets have some fun! So my partner and I (he is the tech wizz and I am the arty farty) have been up all night and slogging all day, doin somethin different.
The drummer in the band is a wicked artist so we wanted to create something that utilised his drawings...

I think they do have an original style - influenced by the old-skool but still quite unique...
