QOTSA Cancel

Forums: NZ Music,

just looked at the coppel website and you can still get tickets for the 13th? are you sure the show has been cancelled?

I'm Totally Gutted! i did'nt go to so many concerts waiting for QOTSA to get the rockin ass's here and the bloody Okkas get them!
did'nt win the rugby at all and so we'll take the best rock band of this era!! i'm just not interested in seeing anyone live now F$&k the big day out!
at least i saw them last year and i'll take that fill!!
Damn them God Damnit!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, totally gutted. As soon as I heard the queens were coming, the big day out was totally out of the question :| Ah well, at least they will be back next year on bdo.

Looks like the Ozzies will be getting another gig then... Since they are polite little punters who buy their tickets early, not like us last minute guys. Unfortunately (and don't get me wrong this is no sales pitch) until we get more excited about buying tickets and get them earlier, poor ticket sales will continue to be used as an excuse to move gigs out of NZ in favour of larger and more lucrative Australian shows....

I guess A Perfect Circle coming in feb slightly makes up for this....still would of much rather seen QOTSA though

//still would of much rather seen QOTSA though

me too, I doubt if I'll see APC.
Is there any other gigs during that week tues-fri other than the bdo??

I've heard the Mars Volta thing from about 3 different sources, all of who i trust. 1 of them said it was indusrty only, the others seemed to think it was open to the public.

I'm not going on record, cause i haven't heard anything definite.

It's definitely on. And so is that Evenescence show next week, hoo hah!
Also heard this morning, Datsuns, Kings Arms, Wednesday 14th January

Does anyone know anything more about a rumoured strokes sideshow?

Greetings fellow QOTSA lovers in NZ. I was lucky enough to catch them in sydney last night. no im not australian and thank satan im moving back to my beloved chch in the next few months just thought id let you know what i thought of the BEST GIG I HAVE SEEN IN MY WHOLE EXISTENCE, (excluding the shitstiller who's sound was crap and just suck anyway.) QOTSA completly rocked my socks off. They opened with Feel Good Hit... folowed by Lost Art. One highlight was Song For The Dead which made the whole of the Hordern shake. Also played was lesser played Ode to Clarissa which was a delight. Joey showed of his amazing skills with a fantastic solo during Avon. No One Knows had an extended solo with unexpected stops and starts which made that, possibly overplayed yet still much loved, song even more interesting. There was a good mix of older and newer tracks though some old favourites were missed. The boys, after an hour and a half and two encores, came back on the stage to play one final song. "We forgot something, we forgot to play you a love song." Josh claimed as they broke into Tension Head, one of Nicks fast paced songs, no song had rocked harder all night, as we all went into a fit with Nick screaming "I feel sick!". i give it **************************************************(50 stars out of 5)

god damn it! I hope one day ill get to see that- sounds like it fucken rocked man

god damn

This is shit. If there are other commitments, ok, fine. Reshedule the trip.

But I fuckin hate it when record companies try and spin bullshit excuses to the fans like they think we are stupid or something.
This is where QOTSA need to step in and say "we want to play this show and we don't give a fuck about the ticket sales"

More so, everyone at Michael Coppel Presents should be ashamed over this spineless pulling of a gig guaranteed to recoup its overheads. QOTSA are one of the best live acts in the world right now, and if the brass at MCP cant see that this gig is a shoe in, then they should go work in another industry. Yes, NZ fans are notoriously slow for buying pre sales but MCP should take this into account. The more gigs get pulled like this, the more the general public will hold off buying their tickets because we are thinking "Ill wait and see if it gets pulled before I hand over my cash"

I realise that to some extent, it is a buisness, New Zealand isnt exactly easy to get to, and you cant go around losing money, but Interscope should realise the popularity of their bands, back up the promoter until the required amount of tickets are sold and realise that a little money lost here and there is better than losing fans along the way. Record companies need to stop looking for the quick dollar and think more about long term effects of cancelling gigs. And Michael Coppel should get some balls.

and yes... I did already buy my ticket - a long way back.

well said johnny, its just such a fucker.

...

hey, did anyone see the guys on queen street selling those QOTSA shirts for ten bucks?

on the back is the tour schedule that SHOULD have happened, with a date for auckland given as the 13th of jan. Looks like somebody took the effort of making/bringing these shirts over here for merchandising at a gig that ended up being cancelled. po' dem.

it's a pimp as shirt for a tenner too.

really?? when was this?? I would have brought one!!

digital camera to the ready, see you in a second...
