Well, the Gestalt Switch page is finally up and running on NZM. Come and check them out, hear their music and download a couple of their tracks. At the time of writing, they have two tracks on the amplifier.co.nz rock charts, with Seventh Day, making it onto the general charts too.
and download a piece of the action. I suggest the lo-fi download so you get a good chunk of music to listen to. Both "Seventh Day" and "This Home" kick arse.
No, Blair's guitar stap does have "Jesus" written down the front of it, but he got it because he thought it was funny. His guitar (which was a PRS Santana model) has had a couple of letters carved out of it so it reads "Satan", contrasting nicely with his strap.
huh guitar strap? i was refering to the overly positive, bland, bandwagon nirvana wannabe tryhard 90's alt rock rock band. didn't actually notice a guitar strap.

hey you guys, prob don't remember me or know me, I sing for this band called lounge act, we played with you guys at the crown one night, just wondering how your tour of new zeland went with alpha cast,
Real good like. Turns out ppl were actually interested in coming to see us play and buying our music, so that's positive and everything. Gestalt Switch are going to be touring again some time this year, hopefully twice, and i'm sure AC are doing something similar. Thanx for the interest dude.
thats real cool man, I remember you guys told me there was no place to play in Hamilton and stuff, raglan kinda goes off that time of year. you played there didn't you??
Are you guys playing during orientation at all??
Its definately a cool EP cover too, we listened to it over at aidans and I thought the production and song quality was excellent
Lounge act maybe looking to record in the next year, and I was wondering if you could tell me a bit about how you did it? went about it... all my songs on 4 four track have the vocals over dubbed like 8 times so it's like a fuckin wind instrument, can I do that??
no, we didn't play in raglan, tho we hope to soon of course.
tell you what, email me and i'll tell you all about the recording
just so i don't have to bleat on about it in such a public forum.
or something.
anyway, later
while i'm here, here're some gigs coming up
July 28: Refuel, free, $2 pints, w/ Evolver
August 14: Crown, $5
September 3: Crown $5
September 25: Arc cafe, Dunedin Fringe Festival w/ Alpha Cast
October 1: Crown, $5
October 20: Refuel, free, $2 pints
I'm gonna come on pint night, as defending Battle of the Balls champion I feel I should "represent". Be sure to wear something fantastic when you play, I have not been satisfied with my heckling of late and need some new material. The uber-shoulderpadded sportscoat was good, but I got bored of yelling "shoulderpads" for an entire set. Maybe if you combined this with another fashion fauxpax I would have enough to work with. Word.
SAM... DUDE...You're still alive?
So anyway, man, you should come to one of our shows, we haven't seen you at a show since like National Anthem, and that doesn't really count either.
You can also buy us some beer.
Now!
We didn't so much blow up the PA as kill the power in one end of the building. This just happened to be the stage end. I'm not sure if the six people who were there felt as if they were part of a legend or just ripped off.
Drop D was not used, although I had intended to switch to a C guitar later in the night.
No bodily fluids went into my amp, but I'm always careful not to look in Blair's direction.
Ah, yeah. I reckon next time we blow up/lose power we should make it a major media event. Word.
New Gestalt Switch recordings are coming very soon, courtesy of Tom Bell. Keep eyes, ears and other orifices open. Watch out for video #1 on the way soon also.
In this last week Gestalt Switch have completed recordings of some new and some not so new songs. The songs were recorded at Tin Shack Studio in Dunedin and engineered/produced by Thom Bell. This last Wednesday saw the filiming of Gestalt Switch's first video for soon-to-be-released single Sick Man. The video was directed by John Ong.
Expect a single/EP release in the coming weeks/months, depending on how long mixing/mastering will take, with the video not far away as well.
That is fucking awesome. Why was I not informed? Can you please send me a copy of the recordings? Fuck that's great about the video, I hope it features lots of meaningful gazing into the camera. Email me Sam. Or Ashley.
Thanks for the comments Sam. We will send you a copy, once we have our own.
Come see Gestalt Switch at Arc, Dunedin, this coming Tuesday, the 7th. Last $2 pint night of the year. Maybe.
Gestalt Switch are playing at the Crown Hotel, Dunedin, this coming Saturday 22nd as part of Inferno 107FM's Blaze Of Gory fundraiser shows. Also playing are The Pukes, Vicious Mandy, The Blistering Tongues and The Uncut Blanks.
