do U watch C4 anymore

bummer huh, sounded good and went off with a bang but now it feels like juice tv.

-South Park has gone to repeats :(
-Jackass series can now be bought or rented minus the // O X [ ] ads
-Holla Hour = 85% Hip Pop
-Never really got into colemans sunday show, might be good for a laugh? but just a novelty that would pass on fastly.
-Anything Jackie and Clark host, well clarks pretty funny, Jackies pathetic, no really she is.
-Highjack, only seen steriogram and ataris ones which are ok
-Clipped, can't remember any but stacy orricos, good insight into making a video.
-Select + Select late, awful edge+ZM rubbish viewing paid by 10 year old girls with their pappas cell phone.
-A list, nice if you like the artist or topic?
-McDonald thing, me pay to see a clip in a format smaller then dvd's? ha!
-Intellectual Propety, Cam's spunky with a funny voice
-Sound Lab, least favourite music for myself but can't complain about big bootys in satisfaction and honey, ohh oh my!

...so I could do with out either Juice or C4

Primes the new TV4 and I watch it more then any other channel now.

Forums: NZ Music,

oh I forgot teuilas? freestyle which i saw once and was a crack up because its live, and callers make her look stupid

SHe looks like a air head.

I saw one Freestyle show where Teuila was talking to a guy who'd phoned in with a video request. He was calling from Ashburton, the teen suicide capital of New Zealand, known for being a bleak small town, offering little fun for teenagers. Before asking what his request was, she tried to make some smalltalk with him. She asked him what he was up to that night. Nothing much, he said. She then asked him what was going down in Ashburton. Nothing much, he again replied. Finally she gave up the painful interrogation and asked him what his video request was. Perfectly he wanted Metallica's "One".

The only ones I watch are:
Amped
Intellectual Propety
HomeGrown
& when it wasn't repeats South Park

I havent really watched much of c4 as there allways seems to be the same old videos playing- but I caught that show called intellectual property last night and I was quite impressed. They played some really good stuff, like some QOTSA off rated r and some tomohawk. The only prob with the show is the god damned presenter- ok shes hot, but seriously she doesnt have a clue aye

i like jim Beam rock 120 better than amped.

Jono is a way better presenter than that chick of Juice thou

pity though, cause when Johnno was playing "theory of a dead man" she's playing "leaving song part 2" and many other similar occurances.

i dont understand what intellectual property is... somebody pleeeeeeeease explain what its about...

intellctual properties = cute blonde presenter presents good music

// intellctual properties = cute blonde presenter presents good music

yep yep

no really.... please tell me what its actually all about...

I think its about alternative music.
I think

thanx

Jades a lost tention seeker chic that rocks , who's jono?

Jono presents the 'Amped' show on C4, he is also a radio DJ on The Rock

jades an idiot, whenever i was the 120 it usually her bleating on about herself for 5 minutes before any songs are played, shes just another joe cotton.

I'm actually really enjoying what I see of C4. The reason for this is almost every hour is themed, so I know when I should tune in. Contrast this to Juice where I watch for an hour to see one vid I'm interested in, and I'd rather C4 was operating than not. Booyah.

i personally regard C4 as the Biggest load of shit since RTR Countdown was "reborn and reformatted"

i cant see one metal track on this channel which is rigged by screaming 3rd form low-lives who have nothing better to do other than drewl over postes of Highly Immorral Scantly Clothed Slanty Girl Groups and Gay Boff Pipe Ramming Boy groups. oh dont mention the otherplaying of this so-called cRap and dance "music".

They've played Anthrax on the flashback show, and yea theres still a load of 8 foot Sativa and Metallica, But I guess thats about it

I'd like to comment on it, but the reception of it on my TV is so bad that I can hardly make out the video- the other channels seem to work fine. Does anyone else have a similar problem?

I don't have a TV. Can I have yours if you don't like what's on?

considering it's free, C4 is pretty good value for money...

Soundlab is very good, intellectual property is kinda cool as well
and fucked if i'm gonna pay to rent jackass from the video store when i can watch it for nothing on a monday night ...

and enough of the 'OMG WTF where is teh METAL' shite ..
i bet if they played a whole heap of metal it wouldn't be long before you were complaining that there was too much metal on tv and your precious genre was being sanitised and devalued by being played alongside jLo and her ilk.

it's the highest compliment to any genre of music that it doesn't get play on commercial networks . .
it just means that all you metal fans are way too clever for the general masses.. .

//it just means that all you metal fans are way too clever for the general masses.. . //

Yeah .... right ... that must be it ....

what i mean is gru that there should be say 2 hours a week of heavy metal on a C4 Version of the AXE ATTACK - hey it might not be enough but at least its a start.

Personally I can't see why C4 cannot have a bit more Heavy Metal. It shouldn't be difficult to fill a couple of hours every week with a variety of Heavy Metal. I can take it or leave it myself but I would think there is a pretty significant number of fans in lil old NZ ... and I am sure many of them would tune in if there was a spot featuring the music they enjoy.

me neither. c4 was supposed to be a substitute for m2; which had much less air time yet still managed to slot an hour of metal in with mulch, even if it was at an ungodly hour. I see no reason why this could not happen with c4.

that is exactly what im sayin stu

even M2 Mnaged to stick in mulch every saturday morning and even tho i had to video it at least i got my bloody metal fix, shame on C4 for not playing slayer or Deicide vids, Shame on Them

mulch introduced me to Brujeria *bliss*

I don't have a TV. Can I have yours if you don't like what's on?

good one, what a bunch of whiners
change the channel or get off your ass and do something contructive

"FECK! ARSE! CHANGE THE CHANNEL! FECK!" Hey, your tic is playing up again. If you bothered to read the comments you'd see that a majority of them were positive. I get really bored with people that whine about whining. And now I'm whining about people whining about whiners. See what you've done??

I still hold fairly much the same views now as I did when C4 first started, although I don't watch it nearly as much as I did. I think that's more to do with the fact that I've been going out more, and also I discovered some really fascinating and informative documentaries on the other channels - Queer Eye, Average Joe and America's Next Top Model (man, that was worth watching just for the look on Adrianne's face when she won - she honestly looked like she was going to puke...but I digress)...

But anyways - I still like Intellectual Property, although it's not as 'alternative' as I was hoping. I like Camilla and she's obviously more comfortable now with being in front of the camera. I like how she's got lots of little facts on hand about the band and the clip she's playing.

Really like the dance show, although Nick D's incessant chatter still drives me up the wall.
The one time I saw Flashbacks I loved it. Will make an effort to watch it more often.
I was really disappointed with Amp'd, I only ever watched it once.
I also watch the A List and Homegrown for background noise.

All in all, I'm still a little disappointed all the music on the specialty shows is still quite mainstream. It's great to see stuff on TV that I wouldn't be able to watch anywhere else, and it's really great that people who've only previously had access to commercial radio stations are getting exposure to some more interesting stuff, but it'd be good to see more stuff that I haven't already heard.

Although I still watch and enjoy it, I was especially disappointed with Homegrown for that reason. They keep playing stuff that everyone's already heard over and over again. I'd love to see more stuff from bands that have been around a while and developed a strong local following (obviously strong enough to do a video), but aren't particularly well-known nationally. For example, there seem to be heaps of really popular bands in the South Island that I wouldn't even have heard of if it weren't for this site, and I'm sure Homegrown would be a great place to play some of their stuff.

Some dudes from some crazy rock and roll band from Auckland did a really rough video of themselves at Kings Arms I think (the song was called Rock and Roll fire, it had one chord, and it was cool) and synced it to a minidisc recording or something off the desk. The sound quality was really good, but it also had all the "live" yelling and cheering and feedback after the song stuff which seems to indicate it was just a really good live recording (cool). The video itself was totally crap in terms of a music video - it was like one shot for the whole thing - but cool to see a live band I wouldn't have heard of otherwise. Camilla (I love you) has said that she will play any videos like that (the rock and roll fire vid ws shown on IP) so come on New Zealand music, go frind an A/V friend to film and record your next gig. It would be so cool if every Tuesday or whenever it is (it is Tuesday, right?) you scould tune in and watch another little indie band taht is just starting to make waves. I would LOVE to see Ejector, Fanatics ("Girl" is awesome) and OF COURSE MY FAVOURITE GESTALT SWITCH. But that's just me.

Me too. They play stuff like elemeno p and scribe on homegrown, which gets played quite a lot on select anyway. I used to like it how on Number 8 on m2 they would make an effort to play other bands. Like, number 8 introduced me to ramekin, brubeck, p money & scribe (when they weren't so big last year) and so many other great artists who my friends have never heard of. I'm thinking, could it be that they're finding it difficult to source the videos? Is there some way that bands can send in their vids to be played?

Only ever watch the retro show. Me likes it.

and i'm whineing about whiners that whine about whiners
:-)
theres a great big world out there outside of tv is all i was saying, don't get offended..
and yes c4 has gone downhill a little.. it actually never was great.. but it's free to air, not every country is blessed with a free to air music channel, i'm from melbourne they sure as hell don't.. so i say take it as it is and you've always got the option to watch your favorite dvd's or whatever, or do what i do and pick up my geeta and make my own noise! Just my opinion..
take it easy!
cheers

ha! That's one of the reasons I don't watch C4 so much any more. Bar Leslie - strumming channel, 24/7.
Now all I have to do is learn to play.

ah destroy the enemy from the inside eh? ;)

Our tv's been fucked for a week and I swear to God it's been the most productive week of my life. I go to sit down to let my mind have a bit of a break....but there's no tv....what am I going to do?! I write songs, read, work on little MIDI tracks to play along with and try ideas.....It's great. TV is the enemy.
I like my tv-free world. Sometimes I miss Camilla though. (sigh)

>>Bar Leslie - strumming channel, 24/7.

whats that? one of the other channels?

pissmefish's flat. They have guitars (and guitarists) a-plenty. Pop in and they will give you beer. And a guitar.

BTW - use Reply to this Post in the top right corner of the blue comments instead of the Add Comment button - it lets you respond directly to comments.

beer and guitar? thats a nice mix

cheers

1. I'd watch C4 more often if I could get a descent picture, reception on tv4 after 6-7 years is still crap!
2. Any show that lets people choose what they play is going to end up being a teeny-boppers-fest what do you expect?
3. m2 was pretty good, C4 could have learnt a bit from that.
4. Jacky (however her name is spelt) is a bit insipid to watch, probably why tvnz gave her the slip with SPACE.
5. They need to break up the music more, and have some sort of stucture to what genre's get played & when - don't leave all the decision making to people who think all the world has to offer in the way of music can be heard on ZM or The Edge.
6. new releases? I dunno , intellectual property? whats that all about?

I give up - I will stick to streaming music channels on the net - at least they have a clue about what they're doing.

hey quantum, let us know what a few of these are...

//2. Any show that lets people choose what they play is going to end up being a teeny-boppers-fest what do you expect?

Remember that show, Select, on MTV? It was always that bloody Puff Daddy "I'll Be Missin' You". ARRGH. Either that or the Spice Girls. Ah, those were the days...

Yeah, if anyone knows of similarly wicked international sites (as in similar to this one) where you can download little indie bands music as full MP3s would be nice.

I highly recommend...

Garageband is the best site to make you smarter than everybody else.

There's a wide variety of things to squizz at on Epitonic as well.

ZM and the Edge are the personification of evil and they brainwash our young with horrible demonic noise which isnt classified as music, sweet jesus even solid gold FM and the Breeze (Me old mans radio of choice) Play better music than ZM and the Edge.
