Skate Parks in NZ

Heya,
I'm wanting to get all of your opinions on where the best skate parks are in New Zealand, so wherever you are, if you have a wicked skate park let me know...

Forums: The Bar,

in the lower north island :

Taupo
New Plymouth
Palmerston North
Upper Hutt

all have really nice parks

theres several pretty good ones also :
Levin
Waikanae
Porirua
Masterton
Gisborne

all concrete . . the only good wooden park was airtime in Lower Hutt, but that closed a few months ago

i can remember when Upper Hutts Skatepark was not infested with 13 year old Britney Clones and the ramps where made of Wood, there used to be a "U" ramp that Frequently got vandalised and eventually a hole was punched thru the ramp and it was too dangerous to use after a while. Even before the ramp was made we all used to congregate down Woolworths and Warehouse Carpark and occasionally "The reds" across the road from Noel Leming - ahh those where the days.

anyhoo the Maidstone Max skatepark seems much better than the old one but its located in a run down and fairly anarchic area despite a step up in Police Patrols in the zone

Wow! You have travelled around a lot!! Thanks for that :-) I'll check them out!

where is Maidstone Max?

Upper Hutt, in fact 9 minutes trod from my house (6 if its at midnight or 5am)

if you disembark from the train at u/h railway stn, theres a subway at the extreme northern edge of the railway stn, enter it follow it to the pedestrian crossing, cross the rd and turn right, walk or skate some 200m and your there.

oh BTW they key to getting to the Skate park is onc eyou leave the subway and cross the rd, theres a Marae directly opposite the Subway.

Goodshed rd to be precise

in my experience rotorua is better than taupo, alot bigger to

Marlborough Park, Glenfield on the North Shore is cool. They've got a cool event with wicked bands playing on Saturday.

Heh there's a blast from the past.

They've rebuilt it.

Really? Did they rip the whole thing out and start again or just expand on the existing bowl etc?

They ripped the entire thing out and started again. It cost them $25,000.

Right on, man.

break a leg!!!

whangamataas got a alright Park its more for bmxers though and they crash into you (if you skate) theres awsome street spots in new zealand though like outside the parliment buildings has some good stairs but when i went with my friend we got told we werent allowed to skate there :(
