I haven't heard The Tribalistas, so can't comment, but can second the recommendations La Cavalera made. 'Baby' by Os Mutantes should be on 'The Most Beautiful Songs In The World Ever!!! Volume 1', I reckon.

David Byrne (ex-Talking Heads) released a comp of Os Mutantes stuff called something like 'Everything is Possible!' that should be widely available.

Yeah and some of his favourite bands happen to be awesome bands ie Killing Joke, The Melvins, and the Shoes. Such good taste!

exactly... thats why i wanted to know what the rest of it sounded like... to see if it was worth the however-much the shops are gona make me pay for it... ive been looking for a band or someone similar to this one that i heard when i was in tahiti... there was this tahitian band- who unfortunately didnt have a cd out- who were going around all the hotels/resorts doing the entertainment through like happy hours and such... the tribalistas certainly arent as good as the guys that i heard when i was there... but the style is fairly close...

Rita Lee is still a divisive force in popular Brasilian music. She can't not be mentioned as a solo artist aswell. Also, SychoGrandpa I agree with you on the whole German thing although music is music so sometimes the words dont matter especially when it comes down to Os Mutantes. A song about bread and circuses isn't that captivating...it's the way they made the music...they used anything to make music as you probably know.
I speak Spanish but I don't think that has anything to do with anything.

im a bit like that- but i dont really do it to find out stuff about what i like... i do with some music- but its usually just general stuff that i feel i need to understand... i hate coming off completely ignorant about things... especially when you're talking to someone who is really intelligent...
