Before I start- I just want to say that i have spent well over an hour calming down before i came back here to write this- so as to keep this as inoffensive as possible..
however,Im sick of all of this-the same sort of sentiment has already been expressed in a couple of other topics- but now its gone far enough that i am going to have my say.. Im going to bitch on here so if you dont like it then leave now, cos i dont care if this gets deleted- if just one person manages to read it then i would have made my point.
You should all be ashamed. every single one of you who has been bitching at others in the last little while. I dont exclude myself from this. But frankly -while i admit myself that its getting to a stressful time of the year and all, there is no reason what so ever for the kind of bullsh*t thats going on...
what you have managed to achieve -people- is to humiliate, upset, alienate, degrade, disrespect (pick some negative words and add to the list) someone so much that they may never return to this site.
i joined this site after stumbling across it quite randomly one day while in search of some lyrics... I never went in search of this site- never even realised it existed until that day...i read a few topics, liked what i saw, or had an opinion on what i read, and so joined up- believing the whole time that the group of people that i would be joining would be interesting,nice etc people... while a lot of you are generally and genuinely nice, there are many of you with a helluva lot of room to improve.
i dont need to name names- those whom i am referring to know who they are... and thanks, by the way, to whoever it was who finally deleted their offensive comments...
I dont know if i ever want to come back to this site myself now- after recent events... not that many of you would probably care.. there is all this talk of hardening up, growing up rarara... whatever... lets be frank- its crap- we are who we are and if some of us are a bit more sensitive, different etc then thats the way it is... Deal With It.stop just posting to harrass someone else on their nature, or the way they post, or what they happen to be posting about. I dont deny that evryone has a right to an opinion- but somethings need to be kept to yourself- especially when it comes to other people..
im almost ashamed to call myself a kiwi- this is not who we are. it isnt. i refuse to accept it. you all might have forgotton this- but our comments are on the Web- they can be read by anyone, at any time,in any country around the world... what kind of image are we putting out there? bitchy, childish... abusive to this kind of point...
you know i always wondered how we managed to get a reputation- with exchange students for example- of being less than freindly and less than welcoming...
and on thats note- welcoming- all you old time NZMers... this is just a website- and its just a forum... i understand the need to "test the waters" so to speak- to work out a new person- see what they're like... but there is such a thing as putting a foot over the line...not only that but in this case running across it then coming back to jump all over it... i think one thing you all have to remember is that with any new person- there will (if we're lucky) always be a new person following up behind them- and that given a little while to settle in they'll be an old timer just like you all... its up to you however, to see that they make it that far.

However, the reason these things are not discussed in depth in the actuall forums is your basing things on what you can only see. Many things get deleted, as will this topic.
The people behind the site are very fair, and it pains us sometimes to have to keep it safe and tidy for 12,000 other members, not to mention the many thousands of casual visitors to the site every day.

Libelle, if you're going for consistency, then that comment cuts both ways. If someone takes to task the more rambunctious characters on this site, and continually revisits old (real or perceived) slights, basically picking fights, then this site isn't the ideal place for them.
Moreover, the subject of your topic offended / insulted a few people as well, including a couple of the mods that were trying to help him out.

Libelle, Thete et al. - there are thousands and thousands of active members here, and I'm sure many 'silent' ones as well. It's a community, and one I'm proud to be part of.
Some members are pleasant to a fault, and we're better off for it. Some are seemingly negative arseholes, and we're better off for it. Some troll, and we're better off for it. Some annoy, some infuriate, etc etc. It's just like the real world.
As I think you said; these are just forums. I don't mean to ignore your complaint but mate, dealing with stuff on here is just called adequate interpersonal skills. Take everything on here with a pinch of salt. Don't get caught up with the opinions of others - they may have ulterior motives and/or just be baiting. They don't know you... who cares about them. Some of the posts I most enjoy reading are those who consistently put things down - admittedly only if done with a sense of humour. Even though I'm nothing like them it's part of life to be able to see others' viewpoints. If it does become personal, just back away - again, they don't know you... who cares!
The site and also the forums do a huge amount for the music community - have fun!

You've got to otherwise what kind of a forum or debate to that matter would it be. We have others who make decisions for deletions so what are we all on about.
We have that sense of editiorial control so it really shouldn't matter hardcore, as long as we keep it true to our fellow members & just say what we want, debate our issues because that is the core reason of coming onto this board.

Insults and negativity can be particularly entertaining, and i'd far rather people said what was on their mind at any particular time than pandering to those who aren't quite ready to roll with a few punches.
Basically, worrying about whats said on an internet forum means you perhaps need to find some new and better ways to fill in time, how about learning some new skills, or modifying a small japanese car.
Either way, thanks for letting out all your hangups, tell 'Thete' to harden up a bit and stop being scared of a few lines of text on a screen, and perhaps think of a few witty retorts of your own .. .
