What is the longest time you have been at a doctor's office waiting to be seen by a doctor? Here in America we have to wait at least close to an hour before we reach the inner sanctum of the office.
If I see my GP I make an appointment, show up on time, and a few minutes later she calls me into her room.
If I go to an accident and emergency clinic, I'd probably get seen by a nurse in about 10-20 minutes, then probably wait for about another 10-20 minutes to see a doctor. But that all depends on the time of day and year.
I've been to the emergency department at the hospital once. I had to wait for about an hour to see a doctor, then for hours more while I waited for various doctors to be free to see me.
I did not think anyone woul even add a post to this topic. But I have had the longest waits just seeing my regular doctor at his office. The traffic of sick people there is so bad the patients had to be divvied up based on age. The younger ones (child to late teens) go to one building and the older ones go to a newer building just for them.
Hey guys don't try to start this up again with me. I got as much right to post topics as you do. If you do not like what I post then do not add your little comments to them.
OK Thete, don't take it up with me. Teina isn't just any mod - she's one of the reasons this site exists. You can either complain loudly and at length about being unfairly treated and just keep on having your posts deleted, or you can take her suggestions on board and in that way become part of the nzm community. The advice she and I have given you was given with the best intentions, but you seem to feel like you're constantly being persecuted. That's not the case.
Depends how many people are there, what conditions they are being seen for & who the Doctor is. Its pretty pathetic everywhere I guess. We wait for everything - q's at the bank, atm machines, tickets sales, games..Life is all about waiting games.
my mum works at the doctors clinic i go to and if im sick i will follow her to work and she will put me for the first appointment of the day so i never have to wait unless some one else is booked in first
as yet i have had no major elements (apart from a diagnosis of Anxiety Disorder after i encountered rapid heart rate and shallow breathing a couple of years ago) ive booked a time at the quack and ive waited no longer than 15 minutes after my appt. was first made.
I keep missing the new seinfield hour on prime, but hope I will see the episode at the doctors, when he waits around for ages and uses in his live stand up - 'now you wait in the room, and drop your pants' and that gag about them going to the books to look things up.
Auckland hospital was the worst. I went into the A&E not able to breath (i'm an asthmatic) and waited for 3 hours before they finally came and decided that i was indeed asthmatic and finally gave me a inhaler. Luckily i wasn't to the point of needing a nebuliser - or i would have kicked up a bit of a problem with them - or would have walked into one of hte rooms and done it myself - but that's pathetic. 3 hours to get an inhaler cos i'd stupidly lost my inhaler. Why would i fake something like that?
Doctors are generally on time if you make an appointment, same with specialists. In an emergency room , if you come by ambulance you get checked out straight away, but it can be some time before you get a room. I waited after coming from an ambulance for nearly 12 hours to get a room in the wards. The intial stuff was fine they checked me out, ran tests etc.
6.5 hrs waiting to see a doctor for a sick child, after waiting 45mins to see a nurse.(In AK)
Just over 3hrs after my wife had given birth & had torn underneath...taken by ambulance to the hospital & had wait in a scummy room for the doctors who were doing "scheduled" caeserians. (in HN)
Yeah true dat.
Its quite sickening really.
You can never depend on the system at all.
Its absolutely ridiculous.
In Auckland it is really bad. Especially in emergency departments.
You've got to be real real "EMERGENCY" looking to be looked at.
