nzmusic group at listen-to.com

yo people,

if your keen to see what people are listening to in realtime head over to listen-to.com and grab yourself a plugin for your fav music player, windows or mac.

you can then paste an image or text into your posts like so...

i've also setup a group so once your up and running search the groups for "nzmusic" and request to join the group.

let's see what we all *really* listen to!

The site knows...

maybe joe and the morselings will be kind enough to turn on html in the forum posts or add an option to the user profiles letting us add our listen-to.com usernames. then they could pop a script or image of their own choosing as the bottom of each post. this is a great way to build up an idea of who really listens to what without the emotional biais of voting, you have to listen to it to vote for it!

But, I like to listen to the same song over & over.
Also, when my brother listens to his nu-metal, it will be tracked & add shame to my name.
*signing up to see what it's like anyway*

Psh, doesn't work with my mp3 player.

only a few people signed up so far. here's the list of what we actually listen to...

28 Duran Duran
28 Propellerheads
22 Missy Elliott
21 Basement Jaxx
16 Radiohead
14 Outkast
13 Augustino
13 The Dandy Warhols
12 The Beatles
12 Andre 3000 (of Outkast)
12 Pavement
12 The Strokes
11 Queens of the Stone Age
11 Fur Patrol
10 Jet Jaguar
9 Le Tigre
9 Coldplay
8 Gorillaz
8 Lemon Jelly
8 Aphex Twin
8 Jane's Addiction
8 Noizyboy
8 Debris
8 Dizzee Rascal
7 Hsr
7 µ-ziq
7 Abyssinians
7 Squarepusher
7 Beck
7 The Stone Roses

Wow, you can spot my influence a mile out. Everyone go register and redress the balance just a fraction.

actually, other than the duran duran & augustino, I've probably had the rest of the top 10 on high rotate as well.

and go me! as popular as aphex twin and dizzee rascal, and leaving squarepusher and µ-ziq in my digital dust. must stop listening to jet jaguar though, so I can catch up to him...

The bulk of the Propellerheads is mine as well, I'm sure.

Seems the 3 of us love The Dandy Warhols. Especially We Used To Be Friends. My only other in that list is Augustino.

now that they've fixed the iTunes plugin so it tracks AAC, i'll help even it up a bit with the shit i listen to.

noizyboy.. please exlain why this features on your top 5 artists...

#2 15 Missy Elliott

nothing wrong with a little bit o missy.

I can't get it to work, otherwise my zillion PJ Harvey mp3s would dominate you all.

Muhahaha.

yeahhhh. I'm not quite sure how those numbers are derived - is it unique artist/song combinations, as opposed to a tally of total songs you've played by one artist?

Tally of songs I assume.

listen-to is all a trick from the RIAA to bust all you naughty music pirates!
BURN IN HELL SUCKERS!

just kidding. I used to use it, but ended up realising it was totally pointless. It'd be cool the had some code so you could list the last x# of songs you'd played, so I could put it in my website somewhere. hell, maybe they have, it's been a few months since I checked.

you can do exactly that and more!

ah, now it doesn't work from my work. must be the router. gutting.

this is some goooood sh*t! by clicking on a band i like i've found another that i'd really really like to get into but (this is a long story) i've only heard one of their songs and didn't catch their name but checked out one of their songs and will now buy the album!!! wooooo!!!

it's gonna hopefully shape up into a good database of likeminded tho' eclectic people / links between like-sounding bands. mmmm tasty.

by the way that band i discovered is called the Liars and i really like their "mr you're on fire mr" song.

ok, so who's going to create a new one? the alternatives are arse.

you can do it!

My pick at the moment would be musicmobs. itunes support only (maybe winamp) and no groups but great design and the related artist info works well. Best thing is that you don't have to be connected all the time and you can just upload your xml database file when you feel like finding some new music.

Is anyone else on audioscrobbler?
