We book a date, 28th November in August and confirm it.
We get no email from the venue saying that they have another artist that wants the date we have booked until 3 weeks before the event and no firm offer of alternative dates.
3 weeks before the event we get advised of the cancellation stateing that you hadn't heard from us since August, we sent an email when we got back from Australia in late September confirming the event, to which we had no reply.
We made no statement that would have indicated that we were not going ahead with the event as planned.
We had no contact from the venue expressing concern about lack of contact from the bands involved.

MONKEY PUZZLE: i've never even heard of your band, which suggests to me that you are either a) new to the scene or b) just simply not very popular. In either case, i would strongly suggest that you stop slamming off one of wellington's best venue's & great supporters of local acts, and instead start trying to make some friends in the scene. This is not a good look for your band, it makes you sound like a bunch of sorry arsed losers & you obviously have no idea what your talking about, indigo is a great venue. One which you guys will probably not have the privillage to play at now, thanks to yourselves. Well done, you have no idea how much damage you have done, Indigo Bar has a massive following and huge potential for any up & coming band. And it just comes with the terriory with being in an up & coming band, these things happen. i think the only issue that needs to be addressed is why monkey puzzle are acting like a bunch of fucking divas & dissing wgtn's premier venue, when we all know that indigo bar have done so much for the wgtn music industry??? they don't deserve that!

it's not as if Monkey Puzzle are slagging them off just for kicks, and just because Indigo are "wgtn's premier venue", it doesn't give them free reign to do what they want. If Monkey Puzzle feel like they've gotten a bum deal, then they've got a right to address it. I agree this wasn't a very smart way to raise the issue, but I still think the issue should be raised since it's obviously something that affects a lot of different bands/bars/etc.
I'm still very keen to hear Indigo's side of the story; I have no doubt the whole debate would benefit a great deal from it. I'm honestly not trying to take sides here, but I'm all for finding out why these things happen in order to try and stop them happening in the future, or at least improve band/bar relations when problems do arise.
