If nobodies around, how do u know there IS a tree?

There's lots of insects and animals and birds around that would have seen and heard it though.

sound waves are propagated by particles crashing into each other, it's an expression for the existence of the sensor. basically for the tree to make a noise then it needs a medium to exist. (ear, brain etc)

still, that doesn't mean that sound is a meaningful component of other systems.

How does that work? I've had my morning coffee and I still can't comprehend. I suppose it's a question of how much can one person change? Do you mean that even if you try to change you can't or that through persuing change we define ouselves more? What if we stop changing do we then change?

I guess what he's getting at is that circumstances are constantly changing over time therefore "you" as you know it is different all the time (because you exist in a different context).

I read it pretty much exactly the same as the adage that you can't step in the same river twice.
