Help us meet the NZ On Air challenge

New Zealand On Air are offering Prudence up to $5000 to cover recording and distribution of Are you old enough after their rejection of the commercial track on the Hit Disks. However, New Zealand On Air want to see significant airplay of the track on airplay first.
This will have huge ramifications for other bands who have sent in commercial quality tracks to New Zealand On Air for their hitdisks and had them rejected. Basically, if Prudence wins and radio airplay guarantees commercial viability of the tracks, then a precedent will be set for other bands to follow.
What can you do? Ring your local radio station and ask them to give Are you old enough from Prudence a spin. Do it often. Request either the Dance Remix or the Trance Club Mix - rock stations would not be interested in playing these tracks.
The following stations have the tracks.
· Channel Z
· Pulzar FM
· Loop
· More FM
· The Edge
· The Breeze
· Classic Hits ZHFM
· 91ZM
· George FM
· Blowhole FM
Note: List does not include radio shows that have the CD Single.
For some of these stations the CD Single would have just arrived. If your local station is not listed, please e-mail us their address and we will send them a copy of the CD Single. (prudence@lycos.co.uk (only the web presence is non kiwi))
Thank you for all your support. With your help other bands and artists that have been unfairly brushed aside will have a leg to stand on. But to do that, Prudence must first win this challenge.

Forums: Classifieds,

is this song a "dragon" cover?

hmmm...yes it is. i'd have to agree with nzoa on this one.

Why don't you focus on applying for "new recording grants". Your time would be better spent on this. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but this recording is definately not upto radio quality (in the market) you are aiming at. You might be able to get away with home recordings on student radio but with a pop/dance pop song targeted at pretty much the ZM network, you really do need an extremely polished recording.

You will probably most likely either need to risk your own money and work with a fancy producer in a good studio or keep trying for new recording grants. Again, this is not the case for most bands on this site, but for your specific genre of "kylie minouge" dance/pop, the song needs to be produced like a motherfucker and not just sound like someone singing kareoke over a standard dance/trance sample.

you're being too nice

// not just sound like someone singing kareoke over a standard dance/trance sample.

doesn't it seem wierd hearing a chick sing this particular song? I feel violated :)

yeah, aren't the rules different for boys? You don't actually need to be 'old enough' do you? Unless, of course, the question is angling more along the maturity of the lad in question, as opposed to a purely technical legal point. But I suspect a law change is in the offing following some dodgy teacher-student behaviour, if I'm not mistaken.

ok, i know iwe're ment to be nice to newbies .. but .. well.. uummm..

"Are you married?

That's a stupid question. Prudence refuse to answer personal questions during company interviews. Please arrange for personal interviews for such questions, but don't be surprised if you are turned down.

What's your last name?

Does anyone mention last names of the Sugarbabes members? Prudence policy is based on a first name only basis.

Can we ask anything personal?

No, unless it is in relation to the band or our music.

ummm..i don't think its a challenge. Its just called a "radio hits allocation" where if your track gains significant airplay, nzoa pay you what it cost to record your track upto $5000. many bands in the past have recieved this. this is not new.

and your coffee sucks.

Hey man I just listened to your tracks and I have to say that the dance version pretty bad, but that trance version had me flip flop flapping all over the room!

isn't 'trance' music technically 'dance' music?
do you mean like it's a house version?
complicated huh!?
never heard this track, but dragon were cool! :)

You've got to be joking. Try doing something original, like writing a song yourself.

I'm just going to take a moment of my valuable time to mention your websites design and popup windows suck and are ugly. Good day.

hahahah owned. I hope prudence aint crying right now
