Volume: Wellington Compilation

On Sept 21st, 13 of Wellington's top original bands got together, performed and recorded live, special semi-acoustic sets. The resulting album is to be released one month later at the end of Wellington Music Week on Friday, October 24th. The album which features the talents of The Phoenix Foundation, Ghostplane, Marystaple, Stylus77, Nouveau Riche, Paselode, Batrider, Crumb and many more of capitals top bands is an incredible snapshot of Wellington music.

To celebrate the release of this CD, a huge party is taking place at Indigo Bar this Friday October 24th. With performances from The Phoenix Foundation, Paselode, The Blue Set and Nouveau Riche. This will be an incredible gig with a very special difference. The entry cost of only $15 gets you not only this amazing concert, but also a copy of the beautifully packaged 13 track CD for free. Since the CD will be selling in stores at almost twice this price, you'd be crazy to miss this show.

Forums: NZ Music,

I'm under 18 and busy, but want to buy the cd, what's it called?

I am not under 18 and I'm not busy, but I'm not in welly...........
Oi what happened to the next issue of a hummy thingie?

the cd is called "volume"

aka: check out www.alowhum.com for info. (very limited info)

And the cd will be gettable from where out side of welly?

stay tuned.....I'm sorting distribution at the moment.

how about a nzmer discount?? - the $13.00 numba (for those who live outside of welly)
that would be a great result.

er..sorry...i meant $15.00 numba.

what a retard.

considering the CD will be selling in stores for $25 or so...getting it now for $15 and an amazing show, is a pretty ace deal....methinks.

Sounds like a cool CD! 15 bucks would be an awesome price too ... damn you Dunedin!!! Guess I'll just have to save up for the full priced version ...

sounds very very good... what welly shops is it going to be in? real groovy? slow boat?

And as an off topic after thought, aren't Marystaple from Hawkes Bay?

damn...poor boys having to travel all that way to work in wellington each day. That was why I had to put them on this album, to show our appreciation of their mammoth daily drives.

No they're definitely from Wellington, but technically The Blue Set aren't.

technically?

what is this "State of fucken origin"

shit...it was a record of some of my favourite bands in wellington at the moment...i didn't ask for fucken birth certificates.

Can you buy more than one copy on the night, or is it just one CD per entry?

i hadn't thought about that. I guess it should be cool buying multiple copies (at $15 ea)..as long as you don't buy all of the copies and then set up a website selling them for $16 ea.

or $24???
mwahahahaha
i wish i had money then i run my illicit cheap A Low Hum CD specials...
you're lucky im not a sad cunt and i have no money blink
you're lucky...

bro...this has nothing to do with a low hum..man, people think i'm so one-dimensional:( I think it said in the wmw guide it was an a low hum launch....that was wrong, it has nothing to do with the mag. It is a cd release party for Volume.

"new" A Low Hum is out soon...when the good shit falls into place.

with the amount of pies you have your fingers in
no one can call you 1-D while keeping a straight face...

Are you thinking what I'm thinking Mystic? I'm back in a month, btw ...

Oh yeah, and what did you end up thinking of Reset Speed?!

nah marystaple are from Wellington... the started out in aotea college

... and whiney little high school students they were :)

Reset Speed = 2 thumbs up (three if I had them, but I'm not a mutant this week). And that's Mystik, with a 'K', by the way.
Nope, no selling CDs at inflated rates, just wanting to spread the sounds around, like to friends in Dunedin who might be missing Wellington music a little.
Roll on Friday's gig!!!

Oops ... MystiK - sorry! :)

Yeah, Reset Speed is cool ... but I guess you could tell their sound has moved on a bit since then ...

is there going to be some way to get the other songs that were recorded?

dunno yet...there are some more gems.

cher for the hidden track. pity about leo on it though. quality is good. i want the rest. from some of the bands.

bugger I totally forgot to ask some to buy me one, pissfizz, I hate having to wait.

Cheers Blink, last nights gig was brilliant.

In the wee small hours I stumbled home and put on the Volume compilation. It's a fckn magic album, and gave me warm fuzzies til I went nigh-nighs.

Cheers again Ian - you sexy sexy bitch.

ps - rest assured, we are a Wgtn band. I'll get you the paperwork :)

planning on you guys playing any AA gigs in a hurry wouldn't be more than a little opptimistic would it?

try n stop these guys playing, they play every fuckin night somewhere :P

At this stage we don't have any AA shows booked, but if you email me through our website you're welcome to come down to one of our practices and we'll play you some songs. Or if you've got a medium sized living room, we'll come and play there.
