The forumula is pretty simple. Basically they are topics with x number of posts in the last y days.

i say what gets people talking about a certain topic are

DEBATING CHAMBER: for example my 'reform c4' post made it into the "hot topics" list, it gives a good chance for debating and sharing certain views.
CONTROVERSY: Sometimes (and i admit im the leader here) some posts contradict with other peoples views, but they make popular debate.

Hot topics is an answer in itself..DER...they are hot topics cos of the simplicity that people want to talk about this type of shit, they want to express their views on such things that matter to them..sometimes boredom can take a topic & make it hot..People have a lot to say about everything..any topic is hot if you wanna talk about it..Whoever made this topic up is a moron but nonetheless also on the oppositte end cos it might be a hot topic...not sure now.

AKA you aint a moron, you should maybe be a bit more creative..were you bored? You a genius as i said (oppositte end) since you bought up this topic...have you checked out the hot topic of 'Lyrical Challengers come aboard'...Maybe you should check that out...its my call..
