um...falter are the "perfect" rockquest band. I saw them in chch a month ago and told them they'd win as long as they didn't make any mistakes at the final. I've seen far too many rockquests over the years and Falter are EXACTLY what they are looking for.... a tight, radio friendly, pop/rock band with plenty of energy and catchy, hooky songs. Its not a trend...its always been what they are looking for. congratulations..guys, don't let it go to your heads. it don't mean shit in the real world.

Well of course it is, otherwise it wouldn't be as big or as popular as it is now. It is predominantly a corporate event and so naturally it is going to be about trends, because if it wasn't it wouldn't make any money. As Blink said Falter are an ideal band to win the rockquest, because they obviously are going to appeal to people, because they write catchy rock songs. You have to remember, the best songwriters may not be in the band you happen to be rooting for.

mmmm...i was trying to say it wasn't about trends...the pop/rock band is always the trend. The Have won last year, cause they were easily the best band. Not cause rock'n'roll was en vouge.

The reason the Check didn't win is probably...aside from other reasons, they were too young. Rockquest VERY rarely..Infact, i struggle to remember when, award the grand prize to a band that isn't consisting of school leavers. If they figure you'll be back next year, they'll wait, cause then they'll see if you're commited and you should have obviously improved..

no...they shouldn't let it go to their heads. I've seen so many rockquest bands think YAY! we're set! only to play their first pub gig as tumbleweed blows across the floor and doors swing on their hinges.
Hey, they've got a great leg up and a huge confidence boost, but there are a heap of great bands out there.
