I've been registered with NZMusic.com for about a year now, but have only recently started posting regularly.
From what I gather, you lot are a rather close knit bunch, people who have been talking to each other for years! What I can't help but notice, is the lack of support for new people on your site. If any user name who you haven't seen before makes a statement you vaguely disagree with, its like 'fuck you, you're an idiot' - its not the greatest now is it?
i dunno. just an observation... what are your thoughts?

I try to be really encouraging if a newbie logs in and seems friendly, even if they say something silly, but if a newbie logs in and says something patently stupid in an offensive manner then - hell, fair game.

It is a weird phenomenon that a lot of newbies start off their online musings with a stupid and/or confronational statement or three, which naturally leads to a bit of flaming from the old hands. I think that's a pretty common problem with any forum, and a bit of lurking is recommended to get a feel for things before you jump in. Some people though, are just idiots.
