No he's not now but he is originally. I love this guys voice but his looks well, I dont know?? He has such a wonderful, powerful vocal that just really makes me feel heaps of real charming shit.
Honestly he's the man for love songs & his voice is evidently so smooth from beginning to end. I love this guy & I heard him on a radio interview once he's so lovely.
He's a kiwi but Britain made him who he is..No doubt. So I would call him both.

he was raised in NZ from the age of two, and was a highly decorated (VC) soldier during WWI, and the most highly respected antipodean commander of WWII (a respect forged by his concern for the welfare of his troops - an attitude that was almost unheard of in the other allied forces). His desire to lead from the front saw him being wounded in battle (again) in 1942, further enhancing his repuation amongst the troops. his famous miscalculation at cassino was the obvious black mark in his book, but he had give the monks adequate time to evacuate the precious contents of the monastry, and it would have been impossible for him to know either way whether the germans were using it as a barracks or (more likely) as a highly strategic spotting point (looking, as it did, down onto the entire area the allies were advancing upon). there were plenty more historically important (and non-strategic, at that) buildings destroyed by both sides in bombing raids on major cities around Europe - freyberg shouldn't have the rest of his outstanding career besmirched by one wartime mistake. After being govenor-general of NZ for a couple of years following WWII, he did eventually 'abandon his country' by retiring to London, for the last 10 years of his life. He ultimately died from one of the wounds he'd suffered at gallipoli ruptured.

Really, the man was a legend.

OK noizy, i suppose ur right, sure he was born and died in britain but he gave alot for the Services of Aotearoa New Zealand as both a confident and popular General in WWII and as Govenor-General. In fact i salute all NZ'rs who have died for there country notably in the second world war as we where a mere 2 and a half hours by air from the pacific frontline (it was the battle of coral sea which saved our countrys relatively defencesless butts as much of our men under govt. orders where too pre-occupied with defeating hitler more than General Tojos army some 1500km NW of NZ.)

chris/sam, d. beddingfield left when he was a kid and has spent most of his life overseas, his career is based overseas, how on earth is he dishonouring his place of birth by being based overseas? do you think the same of other kiwi artists who record and are based overseas? Should they all be brought back here to work the rice fields?
