The Circus Machine

This is the general discussion forum for The Circus Machine

Forums: Bands,

The Circus Machine have been described as Wellingtons most progressive band. To find out what people are talking about come and see the band at The Valve on Friday October 24.

Also playing in Blair Street on Sunday October 26 as well as The Purple Onion Cafe.

See Jones before they SELL OUT! At Valve, with Circus Machine on Friday October 24! Woohoo!

Win a bottle of Coruba!

"Well it IS always good to be optimistic", says tclak in an optimistic tone.

I think our optimism is justified! :-)

Last night was a fantastic night with a lot of musical variation. Lots of people came in to Valve at 10.00pm and stayed right through until 3.00am.

Thanks to The Red Circle Gang, Grampa Moff, and Jones for being such talented performers.

Congratulations to Anna who won a bottle of Coruba!

Cheers,

Tane McLeay

We are really looking forward to the gig 'Shades of ROCK' at The Valve on Friday October 24. We are playing with Grampa Moff, Jones and The Red Circle Gang.

It will be a great variety of rock and punters will be able to win a bottle of Coruba! The gig will start on time with Red Circle Gang @ 10.00pm.

It seems as though I will have to converse with myself for a little while to get us back in the front page of this forum! Sorry - Am I being selfish?

No, how could YOU be selfish!

Today I ate a whole box of Milk Tray chololates by myself - how is that for greed!

That is VERY greedy.

Why thank you! There are so many gigs on at the moment - especially with the Jazz Festival on, but there is also the Folk Music Festival starting over the weekend!

The 'Live and let Die' gig should be awesome! It is on Saturday November 1 at The Cross.
Nemo, Red Circle Gang and Viscera are playing from 10.00pm. All three bands put on an excellent show!

They will have a bottle of coruba up for grabs and the night will be heaps of fun.

A metal band called 'Get out of my shoes' is playing at 9.45pm.

Excellent gig - it was great to finally hear Nemo. The night was full of great quality performances. For some reason it was a very quiet night though - about 75 people. Anyway, those that were there had a fantastic time - well done to Jane for winning the bottle of Coruba!

Sunday October 26 was a good day for The Circus Machine. We played a really nice set at The Purple Onion Cafe wich lasted for 35 minutes - three songs! The crowd mellowed out to our dubby, lunge music. The standard of all the other acts during the day was so amazing. It was a priviledge to be the final band act of the day.

Earlier in the day The Circus Machine played in Blair Street as part of the Jazz Festival and recieved an invitation to play in the Cuba Street Carnival.

Thanks to everyone who has supported us.

Come and see us at Valve on Thursday October 30, for EXPLODE. We are playing with Red Circle Gang and a death metal band called Slave Cadaver!

You can win tickets to the Live and Let Die gig!

It looks as though I am still talking to myself!

hey i'll talk to you, but only because i'm bored.

Hahaha, thanks a lot Prozaco - should, I don't know quite how to take that! If you are in Wellington, you should come and see us - introduce yourself and I'll put you on our door list and buy you a drink!

It was an interesting night last night. Played with Red Circle Gang, Autumn Stone and Slave Cadaver at The Valve in Wellington. A really varied night - unfortunately it was very quiet.

Slave Cadaver were very impressive - a selection of 'death metal' covers. It was good to see Autumn Stone back on stage - who I must congradulate for their 2nd place in the Oikos Songwriting Competition. Red Circle Gang played some songs that we hadn't heard for a while and Jared was playing brilliantly all night. We (Circus Machine) didn't quite know when to stop, but seemed to keep the small (loyal) audience happy until 2.00am.

Thanks to Greg@Valve for doing the sound.

Cheers,

Tane McLeay

hey sorry, i'm in auckland.

lemme know when you're up here!

Hey, Elusive Grampas! That would be interesting!

The Gong Show at The Cross on Thursday November 6, should be really cool. There are over $500 worth of prizes including $250 cash and $300 worth of bar tabs for performers of all sorts of variety.

See you there! It starts at 8.30pm.

Tomorrow night - I look forward to seeing you at The Cross bar - next to Zebos! Heaps of prizes for everyone!

Is this a bribe?

Did you come tclak???

There were loads of prizes!

Perhaps bribes do not work....................................?

Bribes work! Give me CORUBA!!!!!!!

Woo hoo - maybe they do! I will put you into our draw!

Catch the Circus Machine at The Cuba Carnival - Wellington - Keep an eye out for more information!

I enjoyed the set the other night at Valve by Speedo, Jones and The Red Circle Gane - well done. It was great to hear some new material!

This was written without permission from the band and contains many half truths. Currently the band conssists of - Mike on gat, Ross on Bass and Joe on Drums. the music is mostly improvised with a tendency to go ferel without warning.

Ohhhh NOSBOD! bodson/sonbod/dbsoon/DOBSON

does anyone know who this "tane" is? is he a manager?

Who is this Kerry Staples? Is he a split personality?????????? Or is he sooooo BIG that he needs his own forum. Or is he not quite WHAt you think?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Ponderous.

Hmmm...
The Circus Machine...
What about a Circus Imp Picture Machine?
Or a Circus in the Land of Imps?

Just a thought...

Love Dan

oho! another circus outfit!

would you guys be interested in playing a show in wgtn with us sometime in november?
you can mail us at just about anything at battlecircus dot com

I'm pretty certain that the Circus Machine are on hiatus at the moment. I think their guitarist is living overseas for a while.

I am sure that we can put together a Circus Machine act!

Mike is actually going to be back in New Zealand soon but if he isn't here in November we will see what we can get together. I have talked to some other Circus Machiners and am quite confident that The Circus Machine would be able to support a Battle Circus in Wellington in November.

I have it on good authority that the bass player and drummer will definately be up for it. Even as a two piece if it comes down to it. Maybe JamesMcLeay could add some nice cornet melodies?

LOL - The Circus Machine can do the good stuff still........................................
