Forums: NZ Music,

ummm ok voltron i dont want to sound Absurd or nothing but i reckon "why the hell do people go out and get drunk/have sex on one specific night of the year."

to the point whats so big about New Years, apart from a change in date NOTHING BIG Magically happens overnight on Dec 31/Jan 1 each and every year, I mean is the earth going to explode - Obviously Not, Is Jesus Christ/Buddha/Mohommad/Gahnisha/Lord Khrishna going to appear on earth and declare judgement day?? i think not New Years Eve is just a lame fucken excuse for 16-27 year olds to got out, Get totally Fucked outta there heads Shag members of the opposite/same Gender and get dumped the next morning, im saying this from a first hand account - apart from the one night stands there i snothing wrong about going out and getting pised outta your head but I CAN do this on any day of the year - February 2, April 3, July 29, August 31, October 8 or November 30 - i mean what teh fucsk the big deal with new years eve??????

i can't help but feel you are reachin out?

There are support groups out there dude!!! You could find some like-minded people to hang with???
Bring on da party vibes!!! Damn I love summer...

Yea sam!! Feel the Love!

as i say i can go to gigs on ANY GIVEN day of the year Marc 13, December 4, May 16 - not just on one certain one-sided night of the year, trust me the world aint gunna end on Dec 31/Jan 01, The only big thing that happens is that your a day/hour/minute/second older - no big deal. i dunno even why we have a new years, i reckon everyday should be called "Year Zero".

Its just a chance to move on from one year and look to the future in a new one, and considering our school year begins in Feb and ends in Nov/Dec it's sorta relevant as a means of celebrating what a good year it was or how good it feels that that bitch of a year is now over. It is just another excuse for ppl to go out and party and get drunk and do whatever, sure u could do it any day of the year, a lot of people do, they don't just sit at home all year and then only go out on December 31...just at this time u know that hundreds of others are going to be doing the exact same thing, which will hopefully make the atmosphere more exciting and positive and ensure a wicked night. Vibes are intensified, bascially, because u know everyone is out to have a good time, those who don't like New Years usually stay at home, i suggest that's what u do if u don't approve

Yeah I think this year, I'm not going have too big a hang over on new years day, so I can actually enjoy the first day of the year, isntead of spending it in bed sick!

its obvious - ill be asleep at 9.45pm and awake at 8am - New Years is just another boring day in the life of lucifer_sam and 97% of the rest of New Zealand and what all these lameoid party-poopers do on that one specific day i can do on any given calender date ie. i can go get pissed under the table on March 4 or July 30.

//what all these lameoid party-poopers do on that one specific day i can do on any given calender date

fucks sake, LS - you're the lameoid pooping on the party here. Getting really bored with you turning every topic into a fucken argument.

he quoted himself that he has a boring life!! very sad!

Driven by hate... consumed by fearrrrr, RRAAHH!!!

Yeah this shit's getting old L_Sam. Stop pissing in everyone's cornies.

//and 97% of the rest of New Zealand//

what are u on about? the majority of new Zealanders CELEBRATE new years...

I hope they have the free chupa chups again this year...such a treat! ; )
I'm gonna make sure I ride the dodgems also!!

I still have 1/2 doz packs of unopened earplugs.

A trip to Nelson to do both will get you a stunning cross section of truely good NZ Music

oh and like The Cusp it is open to all ages

the cusp sounds like the best option so far, and plus theres nothing like a little trip to nelson to soothe the soul.

anyone got ideas on the cheapest way to get from welli to nelson?

//anyone got ideas on the cheapest way to get from welli to nelson?

kayak?

by far the cheepest way to get here is by boat, there is a boat that sails nelson welly......... it takes about 8 hours but you do get feed and get a cabin, and when you factor in the ferry is over 3 and then you have the bus as well it begins to look quite good..... I hear tell that it is cheeper then the welly picton ferry........... I will try and get more information asap... and it will put it up on the cusp topic.. where there are links to a good accomdation guide already.

ok looks like the service is off over the hight of summer..... bugger but below is the link to the webbie $20 cheeper than railways ferry..........
do look at flying as well............. i hear there are still flights @ $60........ look at origan !

// there is a boat that sails nelson welly

and the captain of that boat isn't a namby-pamby like the Interislander dudes. He heads out in any conditions, so no worries about missing the event due to a big swell in the strait ...
