It ain't some big business. Time is natural, and it doesn't play by any of our rules, if it did, we would have 10 hours days, 10 day weeks, 10 week months and 10 month years. As it is we have to keep adding or subtracting days from the year just to try to keep in check with the moons 14 year cycle. Adding an hours here and there is much the same thing.
And no, you don't get so much power from coal now, but you get heaps from natural gas, which needs to be conserved like anything else.
Don't get an ulcer, it's just an hour, and you get to have a sleep in, in six months...

Dude. We had this argument when Daylight Savings went off in March. It's primarily a social thing. We have daylight savings so we can enjoy long summer evenings. And it still saves us a good deal of coal (or alternatively will help us refill the hydro lakes so we don't run out of juice next winter).

What I'd like is if it was daylight saving time all the time. I'm not worried about putting the clocks forward in Spring, but I hate it when I put the clock back in winter and suddenly I have to walk home from work in the dark.
