That PA was frustrating cause you guys have obviously been working on your three part harmony, when it cut through it was sounding really good. Will be something different in the auck music scene me thinks. Hope things go well for you. Lil bit of a beach boys influence going on there?
Cheers for the feedback. Yeah, thye PA was a bit frustrating but also something that every band has to contend with at times so no big deal. Probably should just play a bit quieter to allow the vocals some space - a hard thing to do when there is such a temptation to crank everything up in the desire to sound powerful and impressive!
Anyway it was fun and good to get started - until you play live you don't get the feeling that you're really doing it. As far as the beach boys comparisons go - well they are 1 of many great bands that have no doubt influenced me over the years - check also: Velvets; Gram Parsons; Big Star; GBV; Neil Young; Stooges etc etc etc - boringly predictable I know but hey I'm an old fart - what can I say?
It was really good, no PA issue this time round, that song 'all by myself is just beautiful', sounds like early rolling stones . Looking forward to Saturday at edens bar.
yo. you guys were great last night. agree with fish. sound was definitely an improvement on the first gig, but i still wish i could hear your harmonies as you have obviously been working on them, bv'ers sing into the mic!!
looking forward to watching your gigging journey...
Can't say for sure at this stage Ralphie. Was taken a bit by surprise today with the email from Andrew - I think I agreed to the gig when I was half cut after our first 1 at the ambassador a while ago. Anyway I'm trying to organise a babysitter as we speak so here's hoping.
hope you can find one, the gig guide is looking bloody depressing at the mo and a wee message from andrew saying that this gig was on surely birghtened up the day.
can you post a confirmation when ya know?? cher.
Yeah we're still alive and plans for world domination well underway! We may be playing a gig next weekend - Sat 31st at Galatos - as yet unconfirmed but will keep you posted.
Hey - you may think you know but you'll never know for sure!
As far as the band goes we're still going strong, have had a bit of a break due to bass player being overseas for a while but we're back into practicing now and keen to play - just had a txt from Pissy asking if we want to do a gig so we will hopefully be doing that soon.
yeah, i spoke to him before...next friday or something huh? where? hmmmm....
agh well. anyhoo. bout time...your bass player is always away/hard to pin down huh??
blah. see you next friday.
if you play like shit, i won't come again - so don't screw it up.
Hi all, The Slips are finally back treading the boards after a few months hiatus. Wer'e playing Wed 1st Sept at the Dogs Bollix with The Shallows - should be a great night, see ya there.
We have been in the studio (Frisbee) and recorded 2 tracks: Camilla and Fast Train.
Done live to analogue 16 track - just got a few vocals to overdub and mix and should hopefully have something on Bnet and for sale at gigs in next wee while.
Also we are playing support for Shafts Album release at the KA Nov 13th - will be a great night (with a few surprises so I hear) celebrating the release of Shaft's long awaited debut Album
ive heard rumours that you guys have managed to coax legendary dj- the mound of sound- to do sets before- between- & after bands- ¿¿is this really true??
That would be down to the specially designed bungy attached to his back now at every gig. And I take it that's a vote for Fast Train as the first single
