Three cheers! Recording for the solo release started yesterday. Sean SJD Donnelly on bass, Ross Burge back on drums (thank the heavens above), and Tatiana Lanchtchikova on accordion/piano(?)
FATUMAN SAYS:Our man Don concerns me greatly, White Zephyr and Dominion Road and that Forest Hill song are really quite disturbing. Quite twisted really or maybe just bitter. Still enjoyed quite alot of it though, must be the catholic in me. But a lot more credible music comes out of that man than he is given credit for.
So says Fatuman.
I have especially appreciated how Don McG will sometimes swathe a dark song in a really catchy pop hook laden tune or an optimistic song in something like an elegy. Yep, there's often a bunch of things going on in any given song. I think the new songs, at least the couple I've heard, will continue to please if you like spooky and melancholy puzzles.
yes- he is amazing there- so original- o- wait--- randy newman had already made a career outta the same thing- cept his lyrics melodies harmonies rhythms & dynamics are way beyond anything what don has produced
Fatuman says. The south Island. Oh dear Mr James. Still it is nothing more than can be expected. Are you still at school. If not return there soon. If so do not leave just yet. An education is a blessing you will sorely miss and indeed sorely do miss. Mind you it could be that you, like myself, are now web bound and under stimulated so Mr James BRING IT. Oh and when you do, bring also a dictionary and get your parents permission these calls cost money. Drop the needle junkie boy life is about to get real.
So says FAATUUMAAN
PS To my Little Freind this is like swatting flies, mildly satisfying at first but already I tire of it.
