A LOW HUM launch party

Shhhh...This Sunday at Bar Bodega, one of the most unique events to ever take place in Wellington is happening to celebrate the launch of a special magazine.

A LOW HUM magazine which has been running since the start of the year is about to enter a new phase which includes a free CD of NZ music each month, selling in record stores around NZ and the World. A LOW HUM is the only completely independent monthly music press in New Zealand and also the only offering CD's every month.

To celebrate A LOW HUM are throwing a huge party. 13 of Wellingtons finest original bands are playing for one night only, special "semi-acoustic" sets. With a lineup featuring performances from Paselode, Stylus77, The Blue Set, Autozamm, Ghostplane, Nouveau Riche, Crumb, Good Laika, Odessa, Cherry, My Tokyo Heart, Mr. Lady, Nana's Couch, several of the bands are performing under pseudonyms, so you'll need to come along to see who they are. Also expect some very special one-off performances and interesting duets.

With the help of NZRockshops, each band performs short 15 minute sets which are being recorded by Gill Craig and Nick McGowan for an album to be realeased one month later during Wellington Music Week on October 24th. This gig will be another huge show, but this time Loud and nasty and at Indigo Bar... Tickets for the launch show will be $15 including a copy of the Album.

This relaxing showcase of Wellingtons finest talent runs from 4-11pm on Sunday 21st September. A different time then usual for a very unusual show. Only $7 for an amazing event.

Well goddamn, that was a pleasant afternoon/evening, Ian. The bands I saw were in fine form. The format was interesting and the vibe was just tops.

Is someone with far more writing talent than me gonna write a review?

Don't know about far more writing talent than but I plan something somehow. It was definitely an impressive event.
