I can't understand it! "City Chorus" is easily one of the best NZ albums i've heard and nobody seems to know about it? Whatever the time of day, whatever mood i'm in, this album is always a great listen.
Has anybody out there heard it? What do you think?
I would LOVE to see some of these songs performed live. Is there any chance of this?
I think the word is getting out Blink... this last week I've seen a full length article, 3 reviews and heard the album mentioned at least twice on active. All good! Can you guys get together for a gig sometime soon?!
What I've heard of it did sound really good. That 'Singing in my soul' tune that got thrashed on Active off the first album is still fairly goddamn beautiful.
The album was rereleased on LOOP. I suppose being on a label offers more support and stuff. I totally enjoy this album, it's diverse and gentle and beautiful. 'Leave it All Behind' - imagine
Yeah there shall be a live band of some sort soon.... ithink Age is just trying to work out who he wants (and can get) in the band......it looks like there may some very good musos (and mayby me).
I love the album too, Age is a fresh talent-so earnest without being cheesy (or too cheesy).....and go Blink for getting on this forum first and saying hoorah!
City Chorus *is* lovely and if Sam Scott is in the incarnation of the live band (maybe with a little Demarnia Lloyd thrown in), it would become a bitchin' Welli uberband!
Sorry, I was such a dork when I said Demarnia Lloyd. I meant Tessa Rain. They both sing like angels.
(I *do* love all the Wellington uber bands, though...) I'm going to learn to play guitar or at least ukelele one day and Singing in my Soul will be one of the first tunes I learn.
Age was in a band a couple of years below me at school. The Blue Samanthas. They won some talent quest or whatever - Rockquest? He played guitar and I think is the only member of that band who hasn't been in The Black Seeds. :) OK, not quite, one of the trumpeters stopped playing music after school, I think...
Dan Adams said something to the effect that there were heaps of bands formed at Wellington College when he was there- thankfully before cds were cheap to make. ;)
yeah city chorus is really refreshing.i remember hearing that instrumental on active and thinking "man there's something more goin on there" and so i eventually managed to find out it was age pryor this wellington guy.so i go in to real groovy and listen to this totally warming, affectingly honest , lovingly put-together album.good on ya.
Age's first gig on the weekend - beautiful sounds, great band incl Tessa Rain (who has the most beautiful voice), Sam Scott on gat, Mike Fab on bass, two cellists + drummer (don't know their names) and Lee Prebble on sound. Left me speechless... More soon I hope?!
just heard the track "the best for you" on c4. It was great, i love it. It reminded me of some of the soundtrack for the film "rain" with some of the keyboard sounds used.
