hardhouse or drum and bass?

Which techno genre gives u more of a rush? (with of without chemical aid)

Forums: NZ Music,

I'd have to go with Lego Technics

the best lego is the pirate one

hardhouse and d&b aren't subgenres of techno, you know.

what about handbag house?

What Heather said.

But dnb #1, like what.

hardhouse by a million miles dude. that 'music' is designed to make you rush off your tits on a good dose, and even without one it still gets the blood pumping.
a rock-solid 909 kickdrum going at over twice the average speed of the human heart (150bpm+) is not something you wanna mess with too often. that's why hardhouse enthusiasts all either look like their 16 or 60, they age like prawns left out in the sun... oh, and the drugs probably don't help either ;-)

yeah hard house is specifically designed to be uplifting and make you go nuts. . .but it's almost impossible to listen to if you're straight (umm. . i mean .. not on drugs)...

i can't stand all the cheesy hoover noises, and the fact that every single track follows the same formula.. at least drum n bass has a little bit of variation...

i prefer dnb myself. plus it comes in all sorts of flavours - ie CONCORD DAWN evil nasty heavy rockin drumb and bass, or chilly out relax yourself type drumb and bass (i like Roni Size and Reprazent's NEW FORMS for this type)....

hard hoose just annoys me most of the time...

btw - any body know where i can dload a copy of MORNING LIGHT by concord dawn?

im to poor to buy the album coz i spent money on APC this mornin...

if you have Kazaa, you'll be able to download it from there. I should know as I downloaded 'Morning Light' yesterday.

anyone know/heard of 'Pacific Heights'? It's drum and bass and it's really good. I think it's like the brainchild of Shapeshifters 'frontman'.....

cds available.......
Pacific Heights - Pacific Heights
Pacific Heights - Frozen Fears

I wouldnt advertise the whole go "download it " theory if i were you...

oh shit! i totally forgot!
Everyone.... "Do not download music and then say that you do it yourself"
Anyway i only got the 'morning light' single which was a waste of time considering i already have all concord dawn albums!

Sorry everybody.....

whats "apheix twins" under?

s'like that Moro ad... "house house? without really strong drugs and lot's of 'em? naaah!"

"house house..." WTF??? "haaard house" duh :-/ fuck this. bedtime!

Download "direct connect" I'm not sure what the download website is, but search for it in google and you should be able to find it. They have versions of it compatible with most computers which is nice. The hub you want to connect to is dc.p2p.net.nz its a NZ only peer to peer file sharing system. Should have what you're looking for.

// drumb and bass

Is this drum and bass that's really dumb? :)

Shit, went and saw Shapeshifter here in Melbourne last weekend and they pulled out the Reese bass.. the big hoovering waaaarp waarpp bass sounds and about half the dancefloor started pissing themselves laughing.. the other looked more serious and moody. ;)

I guess at least with the advent of Bad Company and all their fanboys (maybe a certain crew in Auckland?? ;) no one can complani that drum n bass is too dark anymore.. it's just hilarious!

The Aphex Twin you mean dude. Richard D. James.
techno. proper european techno. and ambient.
check the "26 Mixes For Cash" comp that came out in June on Warp.
the guy is a total electronic music genius. and a certified fuckin' lunatic too.

Drill 'n bass - A style which has been around for ages, but only for a short time an acknowledged style now. Drill 'n bass is the most experimental form of drum 'n bass which sounds mostly very strange compared to normal dnb. If you hear music that sounds not like normal dnb but still in it's direction, it's mostly drill 'n bass. Good examples are Squarepusher & Aphex Twin.

This seems like bollocks to me - Aphex Twin is Aphex Twin... like nothing else.

People out there in internet land did used to talk about "drill n bass" in exactly that context ... maybe about 95 or 96?

The main people discussed were Squarepusher, Aphex (eg. the 'Richard D James' album), Plug (the jungle moniker of Luke Vibert, better known as Wagon Christ).. even u-ziq (that u should be the Greek letter [mju] but I can't find it). Basically all the nerds connected with the labels Warp Records and Rephlex went through a phase of retarding the then-popular dance style to the point it was no longer danceable, which their fans loved cos they could pretend they were more intelligent or interesting than people who like dancing. :P

It seems like this style has mutated into what is now called "breakcore" (*sigh* why is my brain full of this shit?), with big proponents being Kid 606 (and others on his label Tigerbeat 6) and various peeps on u-ziq's label such as Venetian Snares, Hrvatski and Knifehandchop.

Anyway, the thing is that Aphex was only on this bandwagon for a wee while, so it would be stupid to say he was a drill and bass artist. In fact using the term at all is probably shit, because a) it's a dumb name and b) it describes such a narrow sound which seems to have come and gone...

Has to be drum and bass... I think the level of technical skill in both dnb production and DJing is generally higher, the music tends to have a lot more levels to it and a lot more variation whereas hard house is a lot simpler. I would LOVE to see Nick Skitz square off in a DJ Battle against Andy C or Dillinja, the brother would get SMOKED.

Oh yeah, and dnb all the way. Silly reece bass and amen breaks just do it for me.

i personally gotta say that hard house is the most personal uplifiting experience in music i have ever had. I have been listening / dancing to it for about 3 years and I also gotta say I don't look 60 in fact i reckon their is something in the water that makes you look younger hahahahahaha

I'm assuming that you're an Aucklander?

I honestly wouldn't know where to find Hard house in Wellington.

so whats the deal with "god's kichen"? Is it a even with many djs? Or, some dj group called "god's kitchen"?

it's just a rave, take a look at loudmouth.co.nz for details

http://www.loudmouth.co.nz ]

house makes me happy, groovy n' horny.
DnB make me wanna break shit
i think harder DnB is only a few steps off hardcore, grindcore death metal, good for young, dumb punk assholes to do their stoopid sterotypical dances to.

I agree with you u dude. Hardhouse uplifts ya even if u don't take any E :)

I find bass fishing much more enjoyable.

also much less stressful on the ear canals,
and at the end of the day you have something you can eat, too!

quite literally bass for your face.

you crazy kids should give it a go.

I tend to go more for the drum n bass styles it gets your groove on and really puts some liquid into the evening. It all really depends though on your mood and what you are really into at the time. Sunday mornign house, Friday evening drum and bass- if you end up listening to the same shit all teh time do ya fuckin head in. PD

nope definetly a welly lover :)
have you never heard of Fevah, The Matrix Crew or Phoenix ??
all good sourses of full on Hard House music in Wellington.

oh and Godskitchen is a brand/label.
Some brands tour the world with their own dj's or some promotors can use the brand to promote a party. The brand can also be used for cd compilations.
eg. Two Tribes, Slinky and Gatecrasher

As far as electronica goes, Drum 'n' Bass does it for me: hard, dirty and primal like some Concord Dawn I've heard. Sounds like guitars, fat distorted and riff-based, like a lot of rock I like. Or on the flip-side, dark, ambient and contemplative, maybe bordering on dub.

One of dnbs real strengths is that fact that yes, some of it is damn hard. But some of it is damn funky, and there is some pretty ambient stuff as well. Andy C's recent Nightlife mix is a good example of the sheer range of dnb, even in NZ we have a range from Pacific Heights to Concord Dawn.

yeah, go nightlife that pendulum track vault, is about the highlight of it.

Drum and Bass
Do i look gay and shirtless to U?
