Currently planning/building a rehearsal space/recording studio in west auckland - will be available in a months time. contact me if you are interested mgrimes@quicksilver.net.nz
This is probably the most stupid poll ever.
I mean what place doesn't need more practice space? You know from a muso point of view more space means less demand=lower everyday rent prices.
So it's more like the 22 per cent who say no don't really care because they obviously have a place to practice already.
*Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*
Does anyone else feel like Andrew Featherstone at Featherstone Studios in New Lynn rips off the entire music community?
He runs Intergalactic Records who are the main organisers of the nationwide Battle Of The Bands (last year was sponsored by Lion Red). This is a nationwide bandquest, with MULTIPLE MAJOR SPONSORS but which STILL charges hefty entry fees for each and every band.
What a rip-off.
Musicians, DO NOT EVER PAY TO PLAY at any venue, whatsoever. You should never have to pay to play your music to an audience. Rule no.1 in the Musicians Survival Guide.
Not only this, I have heard of more than 3 instances where he has f***d up a band's gig by both not promoting it or by not giving the band enough information and/or tickets so that they themselves could promote it.
Anyone else had crummy experiences with Featherstone, Intergalactic, etc?
I think the featherstone studios practise space is run really badly.
I went there to practise last night and will never go back.
I have always thought of Andrew as a scum for ripping off musician sin the battle of the bands, charging them $40 to enter.
A band I was in once made it to the regionals and we got NOTHING to show for it!
I was mucked around with my practise time last night, double booked.
They don't even have storage for gear.
Most of the bands that practise there are awful anyway, most people go to the Killing room or to other practise spaces.
Avoid featherstones at all costs
Dont worry i will save you all soon!... i know your all playing in your garage pissing of the neigbours..at your house with no space or having to worry about time of day..for noise..space to poractice or lack of instruments and equipment.......i am currently working on this plan...a place to goto and practice with instruments and usage of sound proof rooms with expert advice at hand. all for a low hourly rate!......Musicians derserve this!.......XD
