I went and saw Pacifier and Fur Patrol and Gabes from Weta's new band Bugdust play last night (Pacifier under the moniker 'Jihad') in a 150 capacity venue in Melbourne and it kicked my fuckin arse. I dare anyone to try and convince me Pacifier are not still the greatest rock band to ever come out of New Zealand. Sure I dig the Datsuns, saw them do a blinding set in Melbourne a few months ago where they did NZ proud but Pacifier shit all over them, Pacifier have great songs spelt S O N G S not just energised riffs and they play better than anything I've ever seen from this side of the world. It was very intense. They did a pretty even share of new and old stuff (even some 'Churn' which I bet is the first time they've done that shit in years!). The new songs are just as compelling as anything off Killjoy and everything off the Fish album was an anthem. There is no band from New Zealand who has worked harder than Pacifier and they deserve the respect of every band in Australasia. Some of the shit they've got from some narrowminded contributors to some of these forums is shameful and written by people who I doubt could ever work as hard for their dream. Pacifier are still right on top of their game. Fur Patrol were fuckin good too. They did a set of new songs of which I knew not one but if their new record has all the stuff they played last night it's gonna be awesome. (Which is surprising because it's the first time I'd seen them and for some reason I thought I didn't like them, I'm glad to have had my mind changed ).

So yea.
