Gig was fantastic. The songs sounded just like they do on the CD, except - ummm - louder...but that wasn't a bad thing. Being there was everything. The crowd were totally enthusiastic - as a result the atmosphere was really exuberant. Chris Martin was funny, and really really nice. The absolute crowd-winner was his version of "What a Wonderful World" - "I really like it...when everybody sings...here in the country...where they filmed Lord of the Rings..and I think to myself..."
I was surprised that Betchadupa were supporting - I thought they'd be too rocky to precede Coldplay, but I'd forgotten how Liam's voice kinda "smooths out" their songs - makes them really atmospheric, and their music fit really well into the evening.
...and as it happens, I'm surprised to admit that it's the best possible gig to attend if you've just broken up with someone. Go figure.
