Rockquest as stated on their entry forms do state they support commerical viability which both anime and perjury were but they both also sounded like a standard rock band which they pulled off fantastically.
im not trying to be mean, im not being sour cos my band didnt get as far as them but i do think they are nothing out of the ordinary, but the rockquest do seem to mould their opinions on what is popular at the time such as the have sounding alot like the strokes. ahhh i dont want to be putting out the wrong idea so i will stop

Rockquest is a good thing to get your band started and can be a lot of fun, but they are looking for a certin style-not just the best band musically. Which is why alot of bands don't always go as far in it as they should
Rockquest is a good thing for young musicians... not for young bands. It gives people a chance to get up on stage and play music. The bands almost never stay together... it is just the nature of the age of the participants... but some of them will go on to be excellent musicians in other bands, or by themselves.
That is all.
Plus, if they win, they'll be really popular with the other kids.

i think the reviewer might be pointing out the entire band...the costumes, dresses, suits and shit...it was a tad overboard. The band who wins the "stage image award" never (well hardly ever) wins the comp.
focus less on how you look and more on how you sound.
