MY AOTEAROA - BY BROTHER NUMBER ONE

WEEK OF JUNE 16-22 2003 - GETTHAT CRUISE MISSILE GUY TO BE DEFENCE MINISTER

Im Madder Than General Pincochet without a Nuke in his pocket when it comes to the current Labour-Prog Coalition Defence Policy.

Despite the Fact NZ SHould stay out o Imperialist Conflicts "unless its national interests or security where at grave stake" here we have a govt gradually stripping away what was once a world class defence force. mind you it wa sonly until the days of Norman Kirk when young men had to do 2 years compulsory training.

Recently a website has come to mind and has been given world attn. Interesting Projects The Guy who masters this website made a $50 million cruise missile for only $5,000, his claim. "to prove that terrorists can get there hands on this equipment and to prove that its childs play to make"

Why dont we have this Guy as our Defence Minister??? im sure with only $5K (what we put hourly into a fucked up andertonist bank) we can make ourselves $50 million cruise missiles and say to the terrorists who want to attack this mighty land down-under "dont fuck with us or we blow yo ass to hell MoFos" . Rather than gradually scrapping a defence force - why dont we rebuild it with ultra-sophisticated weaponary thanks to this bloke.

may buddha bless this nation.

ok here sthe scoop, im going to copy this onto my website and every week a different article will appear.

Sam, I think I've posted these links before, these may help with your forray into politic's.

http://www.politicalcompass.org/ (take the test, there are no right or wrong answers, just self discovery.)

There is also a newsgroup for politics, news.xtra.co.nz then NZ.politics, These people are all there to discuss these matters & I'm sure you'll encourage some lively debate.

The whole buddha thing...I think you'll find Jesus was the original hippy. (Long hair sloppy clothes & spreading love & harmony....& the whole pot thing ....seed bearing plants etc, check out the Ethiopian Coptic's) sorry I've sidetracked.

The following site has some cool shit that might interest you.
Again another wee self discovery test.

You may be surprised with the findings. I was.

cheers irie ill check 'em out

Not to burst your bubble, but even without looking at this site I know the creator is full of crap (I'll still have a look at the site to confirm). Basically giving a cruise missile a 50 million dollar price tag is a joke, they're 'only' two million (can't remember if thats US or NZD, but a hugh difference never the less).

New Zealand does not require cruise missiles anyway, the chances of us requiring a first strike capability is pretty slim. What we need are well rounded combat tools, our ground forces are okay, still a fair bit of room to improve though. Our air force is a complete joke, no ground force or air transport force can operate without air support, we need both fighter jets as well as specialised ground attack/close support aircraft (helicopters ideally).

But this is what happens when you abandon the military for so long, it becomes run down and too expensive to rebuild. Out aging equipment is worth nothing, if sold ten years ago it could have been used to lessen the cost of new up to date equipment... thats governments for you.

//Basically giving a cruise missile a 50 million dollar price tag is a joke, they're 'only' two million (can't remember if thats US or NZD, but a hugh difference never the less).

Yes and no. Two million is close to the price of a single missile, but that doesn't include the price of the launcher or guidance system (and certainly not deveopment), and he is making the launcher and guidance system as well, so it may be that his estimate is more accurate than yours. He builds jet engines as a hobby, and you're simply an armchair critic? Perhaps you should at least look at the website before *shooting* it down.

I said I was going to look at the website, I mearly pointed out a first impression.

Actually my wording didn't sound like a first impression did it.

maybe if we got rid of such buearocratic nonsense ie. IRD, LTSA, KiwiBank, NaZis on Air, ACC, WINZ then all this money could be used to put our defence force back in gear. did u see an article on 3 news last night that Al Qaida is threatening every country in the world inc. here in New Zealand and that NZ is not immune from even a "terrorist attack on a large scale" i think that prediction got a boost after helen clark decides to send away 100 combattant forces to Afghanistan - much like she did when the SAS where serving there.

Hes going to create a cruise missile of sorts, but to compare it the type that are used in modern warfare is a bit much. However in his defence if he just pointed out he was developing a simple and cheap SSM less people would understand his angle.

It might not be state of the art, but it may well have better accuracy than some missiles still in use (the Scud springs to mind). And in the wrong hands, it certainly should be enough to cause some serious destruction. (According to similar, since deleted project, you should be able to make a nuclear warhead for about the 5 grand mark as well).

he could at least sell it to the NZDF.

Yeah, it sure will be a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands, he said in the forum that its intended payload would likely be chemical (or biological I guess) weapons. So been accurate is not likely to be of high importance.

Nuclear weapon for 5000? thats a scary thought, was it one or those 'dirty bombs'?

hmm, I replyed in hte wrong place.. anyway

is this guy a kiwi? becasue he mentioned something about wanting to get help from the nz air 'force'

Check out the details for yourself.

Ah, sorry Lucifer_Sam -- missed the fact you'd posted that link.

He lives just west of Auckland.

It was a nuke not a dirty bomb. Most of the money was spent on the purchase of smoke detectors. Apart from that, it only required a couple of cans of sliced peaches, a drain pipe, a tennis ball, and a little explosive. The only part of it which I was sceptical about was whether his maths on the impurity of the isotopes in the smoke detectors (and hence his calculation of critical mass) was accurate. However, having worked out how much he thought he needed he promptly doubled it.
Similar to cruise missile man, he did seem to have other completed projects on his site which suggested he would be quite capable of making a good attempt at it.

oh right? I heard about this nuclear devise built from smoke detectors quite a few years ago, I'd completely forgotten about it. Basically some guys from school (this would have been 98/99) were trying to tell me they could build there own nuke, my reaction was bulls arse (they were "nerds", but come on, a nuke?). Anyway I asked how they would do this to which they started talking about smoke detectors and I laughed it off and thought nothing of it.

Part of me thinks it would be interesting to see if it would work, but the other part of me hates nuclear weapons/power and so forth and would hate to think that it could work. MAD between angry neighbours :P

Its an interesting site never the less, I know I wouldn't mind having a get powered gokart!

Its actually kind of inspired me to get onto a little project of my own that I've been meaning to for sometime.
