damn straight gru, after all they are following the tried & true rockquest formulas:

i) get a CRAAZY person's name (Elwood) and the name of an animal (And The Fish), but make the animal CRAAZZY sounding (ie Elwood And The Crazy Fish)

ii) get a CRAAAAAZZY word and spell it all wrong and CRAAZZZZY (ie Refrigeratah) or put a Z on the end of it (ie Refrigerataz) or put a number at the end of it (Refrigerator 10)

iii) get a MAD CRAZY catchphrase and call your bandname simply that (ie Over The Line, Step Off, Counting Sheep, Correct Change Only, Minimum Fare Two Sections)

finally iv) Take a boring single word. CRAAAZY !. (ie Twig, Door, Fridge, Bottle)

I think rockquest is a great way of giving everyone a chance to be a rockstar for the night is bound to throw a few good bands up there!!!!

It depends why you enter rockquest really. Through Rockquest you make connections with people who you like (musically or personally) and they last. I think it's a matter of taking it as it comes and not worrying too much about winning or losing, because really it is impossible to pick a band out of so many fusions of genres to be better than the rest. Which is why I dislike competitions, but there are positives that come out of them. Interesting that some people think they are "above that", good for you, perhaps if I was above it I wouldn't need to mention it. Our band is a combination of people from different bands that met at rockquest when we were at school, and I know a lot of other successful bands who form through rockquest connections...

You guys were pretty good as well. Good to see a nice mix of genre last night. I don't think I saw anyone I could've compared to The Have at all. Magnum Opus and TWGHT were my personal favourites just because they were completely out there.

so scmash...you be in anime. I must say you guys were ace. Anime, Perury and sixth density were definately the pick of the night.
Scmash, you guys need to play a pub gig in town soon. Not exactly my type of music, but you guys are easily on a par with most of the kiwi bands around. You guys would kick the ass of many an older band.

I didn't shoot any of the regionals, i'll prob be shooting the finals, and one of the semi-finals, but I was also doing some research for a possible ALH article.

yes t.w.g.h.t. were rocking, watch out for them hitting your local dick smith store any time now. also looking for gigs to play any ideas? we know we can probly play the drill with ease, also a couple more groupies would be nice.
