i hiffed all my offspring albums into the trash in 1996 - i was dum enuff to realise then they where a "punk" band but then i realised that they where a teeny-bop band - speaking of which they played 2 stoopid offspring songs at the hutt yesterday evening, the videos are just plain and calling it "punk" is like calling the backdoor boys and n sync heavy metal (for which they aint)
as for st anger - metallica have gone downhill with every album since load. it wont be long before they will be performing a duet with sir elton john or britney spears - which will make them even more sick, (im talkin bout a metallica/britney spears coalition of course)
That was my general feeling from the song. There is no flow, it was kind of like "Do you think Lars should drum fast?". "I'll ask the 8 ball". Poor James sounds like shit warmed up.
Yeah, I have to say I thought it was terrible, the changes didn't seem to go together at all. I didn't think metallica could write something so empty and tuneless, yuck..
And Justice was definately the last good Metallica album, load, reload etc had a few ok songs on it, but like the black album - they sound like a different band, maybe its the natural progression of an aging metal band, the sound matures and mellows out like the band, but nah I can't get into the new stuff.
I think there is definately 2 audiences for Metallica, the old skool fans and the teenage girls of both genders that like the new stuff hehe.. you know its sad but true.
I liked the idea of filming the video in a jail, but then they did those little storytelling flashback sequences which were just dumb. I hated how the song suddenly switched from being really full-on heavy to being all slow and melodic. It was like they were trying to sing three completely different songs at the same time. Hell, it was like they tried jumping on the nu-metal bandwagon and failed.

Only heard the song once, I'd forgotten (or repressed) that part. When I heard it the shouting seemed so out of place and louder than everything else it was just.. wrong

the whole song structure to me is nu metalish, the drum into the overly repeated chorus, the scream!, there was only one part of the song where it sounded metallicaish

oh, my bad i misread what you were saying. I just don't know how she could be disapointed with the new metallica song (i must admit, ain't got a chance in hell compared to their old old stuff) when one of her favourite bands (obviously judging by her forum name) is that of blindspott. All blindspott are, is a group of west aucklanders who write songs with lots of swear words, have a little image with the tag/vandalism style writing in their cd booklet, and then there music is EXTREME. Now they think they are famous by charging $20 for a ticket to a blindspot show, i mean honestly you can go see so many better NZ bands for a lot less everyweek.
Anyway, before i get to boring that's what i don't get.
Oh one more thing, since when did channel z start playing Metallica?

i found it ok the first time i heard it then i heard it again and i thought it was terrible but i liked the video for it i listen to some of their earlier stuff

i do like other bands than blindspott and they are not all "nu metal" bands

i have nothing new to add, i just want to put a comment here as an indication of another person who thinks that st anger is shit.
my flatmate has a theory that they were trying so hard to stop the album leaking that they made a totally shit album that sounded nothing like a good metallica album so that if anyone heard it they would not think it was metallica and not put it on the net.
This is really funny, it's a band called Beatallica that sound exactly like Metallica and their songs are 'beatles tunes done metallica style'.
I downloaded a few and they're really funny.
