i wasnt born then but i grew up watching chatterbox anyone remember that? and whatnow with Jason Gunn and thinghy!(i loved him!) and i loved Lamb chop i thought it was so cute!
or that show with suzy cato in it that goes
"its mai timekia ora, talofa, its mai time, mai special time of day" - we used to mock that suzy cato song at school
What was Suzy Cato's kids show when she hosted it with Russell Rooster???
the early bird show
Yeah Chatterbox was so cool, especially Molly! Y'know the old decorated Morris Minor with that theme music "Molly's on the move and Thingee's on his way". Speaking of Thingee has anyone ever seen his feet? I've always wondered if he even had legs at all since one time he looked at "his feet" and they just happened to to look some guy wearing work shoes.
And who couldn't remember Playschool? It was the prime kids show back then! I still remember the presenters Kristen, Tim and well that's all. But I remember most of the dolls! Jemima, Humpty, Big Ted, Little Ted, Manu and....who else?
in my day it was bary and some lady whom i cannot remember her name.
didnt tim go onto shortland st????
yeah he was.
Yeah Chatterbox was so cool
Ah, Nostalgia. I ought to be ashamed to admit it, but I quite liked the Son Of A Gunn Show too(CHOCOLATE FISH!!!!). Jason Gunn was my hero during those late primary school years. I've still got a copy of "Jason And Thingee's Round-The-World Adventure" on cassette (my Dad still plays it in the car over long trips, bless him).
Of course Gunn would make a mess of himself with Young Entertainers. Yeeeech.
i enjoy the jason gunn parodies - for example jasons tinnie house on havoc, now that is and will always remain a classic.
wow... now i feel old... chatterbox was way past my time. I'm a product of old school what now (frank flash and count homogenised era) and great things like the glumps. damn I loved the Glumps.... things like that put todays childrens television to shame
Yay for Count Homogenised.
And there was also that Rusell guy who ended up on Shark in the Park and other dodgy things.
And I think this might be about 1990: The Issues
Here's a house
There's a door
Smash the Windows
One Two Three Four
Pick the Lock
Crime School....
Actually funny, because they had Rawiri Paratene on that show as well. I can't remember if he got to parody himself or not.
// And I think this might be about 1990: The Issues.

//the early bird show
Ha ha, thats the bugger... I can't believe I forgot the name.
i so miss chatterbox it was my fave show when i was 5 i used to draw pictures and send them to chatterbox and i got a reply from them and i got all this free stuff! i took it to school the next day and i was like the most popular kid at school lol every kid wanted to know what i got from chatterbox!
I so loved Molly! i named my doll after her!
That wasn't funny.
Actor Rawiri Paratene (he played the grandfather in "Whale Rider") was one of the Playschool presenters. I liked him. He was nice.
There's was also a dude called Barry Dorking, who was so very aptly named. Why don't people like that get to host children's television anymore?
isnt rawiri paratene joe hudson off shortlamoids st???
rawiri was funny in issues - i liked his nom de gurre of Winston Peter and various Shortlamoids St Charecters.

Okay, here's my Play School story.
I was on the show in the mid 70s, resplendent in my brown cord overalls, blue polo skivvy and bay city rollers haircut. They had this 'show-and-tell' section on the show where you got to show off your prized possession, for which I had brought in my 'amazing tumbling car' -- it'd go a million miles an hour at whatever you aimed it at, then had a tumbling mechanism that let it climb up whatever obstacle was in the way, flip over, and come straight back to you. Theoretically. When my turn for toy glory came around, I aimed it at the nearest wall, let go, and watched with horror as it deviated from my planned path, and veered across the studio towards Camera #1. I chased after it, but it was too quick, richocheted off the cameraman's foot, took a left turn, and tore off towards the book area, where a quick-witted, but slightly dim stage manager managed to grab it and steer it back towards the cluster of children still waiting to show off their toys. There followed a few moments of mayhem as terrified pre-schoolers scattered in all directions, fleeing the rampaging car. "Time for our milk, I think," suggested the host for the day (a lovely lady, whose name I forget).
We all sat down at chairs behind this long desk, and had a big glass of milk plonked down in front of us. Hot from my car-chasing endeavours, and the burning studio lights (and that skivvy was doing me no favours), I gulped mine down in a flash. The host was babbling on about something, I forget what, but then I do recall, with vivid clarity, the words ... "ok children, you can drink your milk now."
I'd totally forgotten we needed permission to drink! I remember at the time thinking I was pretty sharp holding the glass back up to my mouth and pretending to drink the milk again, but, when I watched the show a few weeks later on telly, it was plainly obvious I was faking it (no gulping, the glass was held at a static 90 degree angle, and I was even moving my head around all over the show to see if anyone had sussed my faux pas). The shame.
But what really annoyed me was game time. I sooooo wanted to have a go with the box planes, but we played that stupid balancing a book on your head game instead. Jipped.
i wasnt even born in the mid 70's, and show and tell never featured in the early 80's - or at least not that i can remember.
