Going to this at 12 tonight..... if at 3a.m I feel like writing some comments I will but otherwise it might come tomorrow.
Nevertheless, feel free to make yourself at home and discuss your hopes, fears, dreams and perhaps even opinions of the Matrix system upgrade.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T SAY TOOOOOO ...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T SAY TOOOOOO MUCH, some of us arn't going for a wee while yet, I have avoided seeing the making of's, the trailers, anything that may spoil it for me, I am not going to next weekend, a wee treat for me and the boy to make up for not getting to go to Christchurch.
i hear its really good and a whole lot ...
i hear its really good and a whole lot better than the first one
i found some bits to be way better than ...
i found some bits to be way better than the first, and some bits to be not as good. the action is way way way better in the second, which is a huge accomplishment. every frame counts, and it's gorgeous, elegant, jaw-dropping stuff. my favourite is the freeway scene ... incredible. second favourite - Neo with the bar in the playground with Agent Smith. oh yeah!
other bits not so good - it seemed the first half was fantastic, and then the second half was really rushed. Monica B's character was a bit blah (with a name like Persephone you would'a thought she'd been put in there to add up to something) - just a distracted wife basically. Damn. a few other characters were a bit flat also. it kinda felt like it hadn't been edited right - or it had been overedited for time constraints.
some big big big philosophical/plot points were really rushed over - for example what Neo does in the real world at the end, when the squidy-probe things come after them ... shoulda been a big deal, but was so rushed over - no reactions from the other characters. and also what Neo does to Trinity in the heart region - it's all about manipulating code, but that never came across ... just looked like CPR heart massage dammit. and if only they could've considered the other option Neo had when he was in the room with the Architect ... it would've been very very cool ... the third option ...
but otherwise, it totally rocked. the end was a bit strange - oh, some sort of saboteur guy, second time we'd seem him, but not at all foregrounded. he was just there. hmmm ... in places it was feeling kinda like a noble-but-average-attempted-adaptation from a novel ...
i reckon the good bits more than made up for the bad bits. and i really want some of that chocolate cake - well, that was totally unrealistic! what kind of woman is going to leave the table after having one slice of that! you gotta be kidding! bring it on! forget the fork!
//for example what Neo does in the real ...
//for example what Neo does in the real world at the end, when the squidy-probe things come after them ... shoulda been a big deal, but was so rushed over
I think this'll be covered a whole lot more thoroughly in the third movie (I surely hope so, because I have no idea what the hell is going on any more). One of my friends said he felt like we'd only seen half of a much longer movie, and I'd tend to agree.
//also what Neo does to Trinity in the heart region
Single most cheesy thing in the whole movie, and IMO totally unnecessary. It takes a whole lot to make me groan out loud in a good movie. I'm sure they could have thought of something a bit less OTT. "I just love you too goddam much!" "Oh! I'm alive again, and perfectly fine! Let's snog!" Probably trying to make it more like manipulating code would've worked a whole lot better.
//oh, some sort of saboteur guy, second time we'd seem him, but not at all foregrounded.
remember when the two guys had stayed behind to wait for the Oracle to make contact? One guy got out OK with the Oracle's info, but the other one got attacked and taken over by Agent Smith before getting out of the Matrix - it was all kind of made out to be another of Neo's dreams, but that was the guy.
//it was feeling kinda like a noble-but-average-attempted-adaptation from a novel
Agreed; it's starting to take on a bit of a Star-Wars-ripping-good-yarn thing rather than the mindblowing philosophical experience the first one was for me.
I reckoned it was way more cheesy than the first movie, and I actually think they lingered too long on some of the fight scenes and the dance scene. The storyline is getting really amazing though - they've again highlighted the distinction between the humans and the robots in the form of religion, but now there's this whole idea that the robots are using religion to control the humans. Also, the whole idea of rogue programs - pieces of sentient code that have actually broken their own rules, and become entirely independent entities. In those ways the line between humans and machines is starting to blur. There's also this idea that perhaps humans and machines are holding this kind of uneasy symbiosis, and the Matrix isn't quite the demon that the humans think - or it could be a far worse demon than they ever imagined. It could be that the architects of the matrix are manipulating not only the humans inside the matrix, but the machines and the independent sentient programs, and also the humans who think they have broken free of it.
I found the ending really intriguing because they didn't give much away. I'm looking forward to seeing the third movie to work out what is actually going on.
//Agreed; it's starting to take on a ...
//Agreed; it's starting to take on a bit of a Star-Wars
The scene with the Architect, reminded me a lot of the Star Wars scene with Yoda and Luke, in the swamp with the whole "You must choose" and even some of the lines seemed similar.. I can't remember what exactly, bad memory, but it felt like it was ripped straight from there
i loved the concept that folklore is ...
i loved the concept that folklore is made up of the remnants of older versions of the matrix, they really could've explored that a bit more ... and the backdoor thing was a nice touch, but heather, you're right, it's becoming more of a rip-roaring star-wars-ish thing.
i thought a lot of the fightscenes were overlong, there seemed to be a lot of cashing in on the effects of the first matrix, it would have been nice if rather than repeat the most of the same effects they'd put a bit more thought into it - i mean the scene following the oracle just ended up looking like an xbox game! new eye-candy would've been great - the twins were fucking choice though!
i'd be a happy man if i could bake a cake like that.
as for the ending, it's non-conclusive which seems to be common in any trilogy, first story gets you interested, second story drags you in, then sets you up for a conclusion.
oh yeah, and trinity's insect-like head movements are really starting to tick me off, plus morpheus seems to have lost something ... he no longer makes sense, now he's got the air of a fool
in fact, it almost seems to me like the characters are becoming parodies of the first story
anyway, it was still entertaining, but i guess i had unrealistic expectations for it
Well, that was something. Matrix ...
Well, that was something.
Matrix Reloaded is fuckin amazing. Maybe my brain was dulled from the time, but it seemed to be the most profound movie I've seen in a while.
Good points: - as Cleanie said, the special fx were p h phat. It's almost unfair on other movies that they will have to live up to that standard.
- If you thought the original fight scenes were inventive, wait till you see these ones. Ok, so you're never gonna have the same 'revelation' feeling as you do with the original, however the development from the first one is astounding. New contexts for fights, new moves, new cinematography, developed style. It's all there and it all kicks ass.
- Character development. Everyone seems to have come a way since the last film. Some characters are reassuringly familiar while others have impressive new twists thrown in. The interaction between them and their links to each other are also more complex and double-sided.
- Plot = brilliant. One thing I found fascinating is how many loose ends they left. Something tells me those albinos aren't gone... and of course the architect opens up far more plot variants than it closes. I didn't feel like things were rushed: on the contrary every scene was original and detached but somehow all seemed to link logically.
- story structure; the flashbacks/flashforwards/ & narration motivation were an inventive use of standard techniques.
- Cameos from Australasian celebs ("Savoy anyone?")
There's many more, but go and see the movie.
Bad points: - The random jive in Zion. It was too long, the techno was shit and from the images shown, I kept imagining Nelly was going to jump out and drop a beat, yo.
- I don't know what Cleanie means w/the third option but the fact they totally ignored one pisses me off a little. I guess there was a lot of stuff I didn't understand (too many damn big words architect!) and so a repeat screening might be in order to understand motivations behind some events.
third option - he could've done ...
third option - he could've done nothing - not chosen either door. i really want to expound this a lot more here, but lotsa people might not have seen it and if i go on a bit more, they'll find out the whole origin of the Matrix and that would surely suck ...
i imagine the third option would not make an interesting movie however!
yeah, i didn't much like the rave in Zion. that's really gonna date. but the love scene intercut with it was real sweet - Carrie-Ann and Keanu really do have some 'most excellent' chemistry goin on there.

i thought this was up there with the cheesiest stuff i have ever seen. it would only be improved by eddie murphy playing neo.
the fight scenes were so four years ago. ive seen them do the whole jump in the air thing, nothing new there.
they seem torn between trying to make a mind bender and an 80s action film. it kind of cut between the two and didnt really flow.
the long love scenes suck. i think only the sixteen year old boys appreciated them.
the ending was fucking awful.

Fuck u Carl! U dumb ass! THough i had to admit "reloaded" isn't as good as the original. Because their isn't enough action scene in the whole movie, and too much predictible talking parts (thats mostly due to those scenes centred in zion, and dance music sucks) However they back ground informations u get from the programs inside the matrix is quite interesting. Beside the action scene vs 100 smith, the other ones aren't that much big improvment over the original! The MATRIX was GREAT movie. But RELOADED is only a GOOD movie

can't say it really did too much for ...
can't say it really did too much for me, though - i think i'll need to go see it again before i decide that for sure.
special FX were oh-my-gosh amazing, coolest -=> the two trucks crashing, fantastic. worst -=> neo's "superman thing" - tragic, cheesy and way to OTT for my liking.
plot, not so sure about this one, to me it just seemed like a crap space-filler between the first and final ones. it's like a whole pile of unanswered/unanswerable shite was thrown at me in an attempt to make me grasp the concept and come and watch the last one. "what do you choose?"......argh.
other than that i was well structured, there were only a couple of slow bits, the rest kept me occupied and comfortable in my seat [considering there was a guy farting behind me for practically the whole movie.....]
p.s. teaser, wet and good.
p.p.s how fucking dodgee does that sound?

I left with some rather mixed thoughts (and 'Calm like a bomb' stuck in my head)
But like Jenni :o) sez (b4 she went wierd),think seeing it a second is a must.
I could'nt help but compare it 2 the first...
The freeway scene is where it's all at...Damn that was impressive.
The Getto fight scene with Neo Vs. Agent Smith(s)....i found it alil' too produced...And what the hell was up with that Music!!!!!!,it sound'd like something you'd hear in a circus!!,no phat Bassline wotsoeva!
Without giving any of the Story away(besides,if u have'nt seen it,u should'nt really be in here now should u?),i had 2 laugh when Neo confronts 'The Archietect' seriously ppl, this guy look'd like Mr KFC himself,it sorta remind'd me of the 'Truman Show',how Jim Carrey stumbles upon 'the Maker'...
Already been said, but damn the dialogue was predicable!,especially the meeting with the Oracle...
But yea,i was completly blown away by the Fx....they were just insane!
Those two Transparent Albino twins are awesome!,But what was up with the ramdom French guy>?!>!,believe me when i say he was rattl'in off some rather impressive foul french dialogue!!
The costumes were fucking awesome!,but yea it was good...Can't wait till the next one, when (hopefully) all the pieces fit.

hmmm. I liked it.
I agree with the Star Wars comments. Very similar feel now. "revolutions", heh, the Star Wars for this generation.
I liked the Architect scene, gave some story and spin to the whole matter.
Some of the effects were too much like that pause of the CG Neo during the Agent Smith fight scene. Let's spoil the illusion. ok.

I finally got round to seeing Reloaded for a second time and I have come to the conclusion that it just drags too much.
Anyway this prompted a IMDB search, the trivia section is interesting.
// There are many references to number 101.
The above bit got me thinking when I was watching 1984 last night of Room 101. I mean The Matrix borrows so much from 1984 it must be some type of homage.
So yeah that is my useless information for the hour.
