oh duncan (guy at the cross who's been helpin us out! yay to him!) says that you don't have to leave at 12 like they won't be forsibly kicking you out the door- just the bar has to close like can't sell drinks no more...but after the gig indigo is going to be open with some more nz bands so pop down there after the cross...

The Lamps rule. Everyone should see them.

and listen to 'em . . . their track on the compilation sounds f'n excellent, especially for a two-track "live" (i.e. no overdubs) demo . . . Recording quality/performance-wise it's up there with any of the other tracks :)

started on time? no.
drink specials? no.
bbq? no.

james--? no.

good pie from starmart? no.

"started on time? no." - yep, sorry the organising crew lost track of time (too busy elsewhere) so it started a little late ... the whole trying to get the Channel Z banner to stay upright thingee didn't help get things off at the right time either ;-)

"drink specials? no."/"bbq? no. " that was a mistake made on the part of a person who had nothing to do with the organisation of the event posting a band news item ... nothing else mentioned it at all (BTW. we did enquire about it but there was next to no competition that night so there was no point...)

hopefully you enjoyed the music anyway!

cher for the reply. some of the music i heard was good but i was too tired to care.

//next to no competition that night so there was no point

my bed and my wallet compete. i would have spent more money if the beers were cheaper and there was a bbq. if dunedin wasnt dunedin id go back for the five dollar jugs.

james--? yes.
and the lamps do rule, everyone should check them out if they get the chance

do you know what its like to be lied to man? it hurts. it killed a little part of me.

What a great showcase of bands! Yes I too was a bit disappointed about how the night went - I was expecting it to be much bigger with a lot more people and more atmosphere.
Band of the night had to be Po-Ha followed closely by The Lamps. PO-HA nailed every song had a great energy on stage and the music had my feet tapping right though the set. These boys will go far...
Cant wait for the CD Release gig.

huh?
I'd put The Lamps and Ejector at the top.
Po-Ha's drummer is wicked but other than that, neh.

Each to their own I guess. I have seen Ejector play way better so I dont agree with you on that one. Ejector are a wicked band and hopefully they pull off a good one on May 8. Po-Ha improve each time I see them and The Lamps.... well..... I think that they should definatly get an E.P out quick smart!

// Each to their own I guess.

Indeed.
Yes I too have seen Ejector play better but even then they were one of the best bands that night.
I think Po-Ha still have a while to go, best of luck to them but right now they just don't do it for me.
I hope The Lamps take time with their EP and get it the best they can because they rule. On the "loopy" demo Adrian's vocals aren't quite up to his live standards and I really like his voice. It deserves to be done right.

Hey georgiegirl- we had a wicked time too! Make sure you get yourself to The Cross on May 10- Our EP release- it'd be great to see you there!
