I went to 4 of their shows, Christchurch, Dunedin, Timaru and Invercargill. It was PHAT!!!! I wasn't too much of a blindspott fan before it but after seeing them live 4 nights consecutively, they are now one of my fave NZ bands live. Their Dunedin show was the best one and it was amazing, huge crowd. All of their crowds were huge but with Mother Guru supporting 3 of the shows, this isn't surprising. Very phat week of Blindspott. After the shows in Timaru and Invercargill they came back out to the bar to have drinks with everyone too and they were all really nice guys, especially Sheldon and Gareth

wooah! you are very lucky to have seen blindspott 4 nights consecutively!
blindspott ROCK live!
Love the Rock Superstar (Cypress Hill) ...
Love the Rock Superstar (Cypress Hill) cover - great track, but they play it well too.
Also they have begun to play Suffocate and that ska/reggae influenced ballad (can't remember name of the track) which they didn't used to. They are getting tighter live, although I have always liked them as musicians. The people who knock them on this site, undoubtedly listen to them a lot less and shouldn't comment, but then isn't that always the case?
Much luv 4 Blindspott.
not necessarily. the amount of ...
not necessarily. the amount of musicians that i've talked to and have seen them play have always come back with negative comments about their live shows.
the non-musicians seem oblivious to the things musos pick up, but i guess that goes without saying

we'll i'm not a musician i just love good music and i though it was very tight, very Phat!!! Also i went to all of the shows with alot of musicians and they all thought the same, everyone was very impressed. I think that's a bit of a rude comment to say 'the non-musicians seem oblivious', I know good music when i hear it and i definately think i know alot more about it than some musos i listen to talk about music on here
i think you're guilty of being even ...
i think you're guilty of being even more presumptuous than me- of course i know it comes down to personal taste, and i know there's music i like that can be deemed 'simple' on a musical level. doesn't mean the songs aren't of an outstanding quality.
i don't mean to imply either that blindspott don't have good elements working within their songs, on the technical side of things- i reckon marcus comes up with some interesting guitar licks and damien has a nack for applying good melodies and vocal hooks.
from the discussions with the people i've had, the running trend is that shelton totally lets the band down, and the band's live show has weird pulsing rhythms. hell, he apparently stopped for a whole 30 seconds in the middle of 'nil by mouth' completely lost, during one performance. there's no excuse for that in my eyes. but then, i dunno, he might have improved since then. he's been at it for a few years now. it's just from the impressions my associates have had, that they will never go to another blindspott show, or ever respect them. i know, that i don't feel any urgency to go see them.

//the non-musicians seem oblivious to the things musos pick up, but i guess that goes without saying
thats because you develope an ear for things like notes a pitches and missed beats and being flat etc and pick up the smaller insignificant ones easilier than non musos
no offence to non musos
I have seen BS play live five times ...
I have seen BS play live five times now, and not once have I witnessed Shelton letting the other boys down. He is an amazing drummer, live and on the album. He writes drums for the song and not for his ego which is a commen occurance in musicians, and it takes alot to do that.
You and your "muso friends" are the ones who miss out on such a phat band, and shit, people don't have to like BS's music but I think it's a wee bit overboard for someone to lose respect for them over a few shows. BS are so dedicated to what they do and you can hear it their music.
I'm sorry I posted such a negative comment but I had to get that off my chest. I'm sick of people saying bad things about artists on forums. People come here to read all the things they agree with about their fav bands and when people like Fur Boy post crap, it just pisses people off and creates negative energy.
Blindspott are phat on stage, on their album and in person and they deserve all the credit they get plus more......rock the fuck on BS!

At the big day out blindspott sucked (before you flame me, yes i own the cd and enjoy their music).
They make quite good music (although in my personal opinion it could be improved by editing a few things). But i've seen them 4 times now, only once have they put on a good show where it sounded good to listen and move around to.

i seen blindspott live about 7 or 8 times now
i will never get sick of them they are really awesome live
an Shelton is an amazing drummer i heard that he basicly taught himself how to play the drums he had a drum teacher but he had an arguement with his teacher and he ended up teaching himself! he is very skilled i would like to be just as good as him
Marcus is also a very good guitarist. The whole band is just so fucking talented!
Well whenever it was that Shelton lost ...
Well whenever it was that Shelton lost some of your friends respect, i'd say he's definately improved a lot since then cause he is a very phat drummer now, and how much respect would your friends lose if they got up there with the huge audiences that blindspott get, i'd say they wouldn't even compare. And it's not like he's the only drummer to make a mistake or miss a beat, did you go to the last Tool concert in Christchurch? Danny Carey's gotta be the phattest drummer in the world, they all make mistakes.

Yeah that Cypress cover was very phat, they played that at all the shows, and that reggae song really stood out for me too. The people who knock them on this site though, i wouldn't say they necessarily listen to them a lot less, but maybe they only listen to the cd because that's all i had heard until that trip and i didn't really get into it. Their live shows definately give them more justice, that they deserve cause they are so phat live!

I believe that "non-musicians" as you put it (you make them sound like an alien cult group or some shit.?) ...are able to give the most unbiased opinion on music. They aren't sitting there with bated breath eagerly awaiting the next mistake so their "Musician" - ego gets stroked and they feel better about their fuck up at their last gig...Who really gives a fuck if a band misses a note or a beat....If the "non-musos" are moving to it then they're obviously dropping in the right pockets. Of course there is exceptions...But I have to agree with Whitepony and say that I think Blindspott are a phat fucking band!!! and I think anyone would find it difficult denying the fact that these boys have played game well and deserve the phat crowds that they are pulling...
im not a very good musician... but i ...
im not a very good musician... but i know enough to be able to write in my veiw resonable reveiws of a gig, from the 3 times i have seen blindspott they have never "done" it for me, they are good i admit that but nothing special, this IS a change from my anti-blindspott days, i won't go into a huge rant, cause i get sick of the see-saw, which is happening now...
voltron this will go on for ever, do what i did and just don't decide you have to defend attack blindspott all by urself... its a waste of time
p.s. please stop saying phat, im on the verge of ignoring ur posts cause its such a dead and monotonous word, just annoys me
thknas alot :D

I'm sorry dude, the last thing I want to do is piss anyone off with MY choice of words to desrcibe a particular situation/emotion. I'd like to meet you one day so you can tell me stop saying a word, any word, that annoys you to my face, then I may have the respect to change my vocab while I'm in your prescence...Sorry bro, I say it often.
Besides...you missed my point. I sent that post in reply to fur boys comment about Musos vs Non-Musos. It just happened to be in a Blindspott forum so I included my opinion of them....Isn't that what this site is all about??? Or is it only the elite few who really know the underground workings of the illusion that is nzmusic.com?

haha im not one of the elite of NZM i'll tell you that...
anyway i'll put my opinion down, non-muso's (in general) will enjoy pretty much anything, hell i thought the feelers were great beginnning of last year...
muso's who usually have a larger grounding in music, have listenned to more, seen more bands played, can judge the quality of a live gig, much more than non muso's??? if i wasn't a musician but still had my passion for music, would that make me a muso, cause i think of "muso" as being a more broad term than musician... just my veiws on it
cause if people really passionate about music are muso's then i'd say catagoricly that muso's are better judges of music

Now that I understand your terms...yeah, I agree
