MEDIA MISQUOTES!

NEVER EVER TRUST ANY REPORTER!!! THEY LIE AND MAKE YOU LOOK LIKE A DUMBASS!!!!! anyone else had any run ins with lying reporters who make you look stupid and them look clever??

Forums: The Bar,

I went on this conservation thing not so long ago, when we came back there was a reporter from the local newspaper waiting to talk to us. I was saying alot of semi-intelligent sounding stuff and then at the end of the interveiw I made a joke about the weka's (birds that were on the island) knicking off with all our stuff. Of corse the reporter had to quote me on that last little retarded bit. Made me sound like such a raam!

"the wekas keeps running off with all our stuff." what a raam!

What did they do to you?

we are holding this major event where i am and i am looking after the performers... she basically made it sound like we didn't know what we were doing - and she said i said i was having a mental breakdown but it's all good and i didn't say it like that at all!! and then she said i was going on about missing performers - utter crap!!! check it out if ya want......

oh no - now people will know!!! woops! hehe

ummmm... any chance you can add a bit more to that link, I dunno what article I should be looking for.

sorry it's the WOMAD article front page... not sure the rest of the link... :-)

I was interviewed for an article in the Herald a few months ago. It was a good article, but one paragraph of the article accidentally had quotes around it which made it seem like I'd said that. I emailed the journalist and he apologised, said it was a subediting error, and had the mistake corrected on the Herald's web site, so that was ok.

Don't get me started on the NZ Herald!!

It is disgraceful that a major metropolitan daily newspaper can have such pathetic grammatical standards. Perhaps if they were to turn off all the spell checkers and actually read the stuff like sub-editors should the might notice all the mistakes ... assuming of course that they are literate enough notice them ...

I need more coffee I guess ... and a lie down ...

*Big_Stu gets off high horse and leaves room*

THEY might notice all the mistakes ...

fuck, fuck, fuck!!

I can go one better. I have a published interview, which wasn't misquoted, it never occurred.

The whole interview was made up. And man did *I* say some stupid things ...
