Forums: Classifieds,

yikes! at your local rockshop they're about $295 aren't they? i guess you might be in a desperate rush ... but they're pretty common - at some stage one will turn up at a pawn shop/cash converters ...

sorry to sound ignorant, but whats a crybaby?:S

a wah-pedal.

crybabay's are over-rated

//over-rated

tell me more?

i mean, a crybaby wah has its own really distinctive sound - you get the fuzz and the distortion together. as far as i know, there's not much out there that does that and does it better and more, but i'd be keen to hear what does. the Crybaby is just so goddamn dirty and beautiful ...

//crybabay's are over-rated

no. theyre just over-used. every guitar player and his mangey dog use them to "enhance" their soloing ability. doesnt mean its false hype

that being said, they are excellent pedals: great tone and much better movement than the Vox equivelent. and i look forward to fixing my one so my finger-tapping solos can come to life again.

cash converters are probly your best bet, or maybe bungalo bills (if your in AK)

speaking of trashy gimmick pedals.... does anyone have a "talk box" for sale? (the kind made famous by the likes of peter frampton, dave gilmore and more recently dave grohl)

Try making a Talk-box yourself. Just connect a practice amp up to a real small speaker (say, 3-inch) and encase the speaker in the base of a plastic drink bottle the same width. Run the wires out the bottom and make sure the speaker is pointing out the top of the bottle. Then attach a length of hose, pipe, rubber tubing or what-have-you to the neck of the bottle, stick the other end in your mouth and play.

That's all they are, plus the addition of some sort of switch to divert your guitar sound back into your main rig. The talk-box sound simply comes out through your vocal mic into the PA.

i hate my crybaby. it has very little range.

what model is it?

my bro' has a crybaby pedal that a mate gave him in new york. i don't know what model it is or anything, i'll have to check that out... but it was from a lady in a guitar noise band who used while sessioning with some n.y. heavy-weight. (i'm now presuming it's good).
i'll pass that on to him and will be back.
(i'm also presuming he wants to sell it, 'cos he's a bass player who only owns one lead).

there's also the possibility that it's probably been put through it's paces and wah pedals tend to wear out in quite a few places and need maintenance
