Hey, I just wanted to know if anyone actually knew the truth on this query, or opinions. I got a ticket for not wearing my seatbelt for $150, which is now $180 (because I didnt pay it in 3 months or whatever) The smart policeman who gave me my ticket wrote the first letter of my last name wrong (B instead of V) and wrote my birthdate 10/04... whereas I told him 10th july. (10/07) and both reminder tickets after that have the same mistakes, typed. I've been told I don't have to pay because of this... anyone know?

Bloody hell! One hundred and eighty bucks for not wearing a seatbelt! Did you deck him or something??
Probably you're still legally obliged to pay it, but obviously it'd be a lot easier to get away with it if you didn't. Are you planning on moving any time soon?

my friend once got a speeding ticket, but they got one of the letters of his number plate wrong. he just mentioned it to them and then he didn't have to pay.

The best you can do is write a letter. Claim that they clearly have the wrong person.
Or depending on your town, there might be a free community law centre willing to give you a quick opinion.

Haha, we thought of that one Heather (moving, so they could never find meee...) But we rung up the courts and said Hahaha you can never find me but they said ohhh but we'll get the number plate on the ticket (my ex-boyfriend, and no I'm not just guna leave it for him to pay) and get him to pay. I wrote a letter yesterday, stating the mistakes and also a photocopy of my passport with the real details, and sent it to the fine inquiry addressy thing. I think what its guna come down to is that no matter what, they'll make my ex pay it if I don't. I was just hoping that the fact that they made a mistake can get you off a ticket
