Is it OK to pimp your band here?

Guys. What are your feelings on pimping your band on nzmusic.com? Is it encouraged/discouranged/tolerated?

Anyways... this is a thinly veiled topic in which to pimp my band. Idle Faction tonight. Indigo. Usual Tuesday night alcohol deals, etc.

This is also the first week that Tuesday nights at Indigo have been sponsored by The Factory - Wellingtons ONLY professional practice space. Go Adrian.

Forums: NZ Music,

I got the impression dust & Teina would be horribly offended if you didn't.

yes.

It is highly encouraged to promote your band on this site. The natural laws of tolerance will come into effect - but some bands have been subtley in their pimping and have gained excellent support from this community - especially at live gigs etc.

I say do it. This site is for bands, the fans and the critics... but most importantly the bands.

Good good. As you can see I was doing it anyway. :)

You should come along tonight... we can re-create the Betchadupa experience.

If you really wanted to pimp your band, NiceGuyEddie, you'd put some free downloads on this site so that people who could never possibly make it to the Indigo could still hear your band.

How can I think you're dreamy if I've never heard you play?

We'll try to record soon - just for you, Velocity. And we might even make up a web site with star signs and 'whats hot' and 'whats not' lists put up by each member. Wouldn't that be just neato?

...and make sure to put lots of pictures on your website so that I can print them out and put them in little heart-shaped picture frames...

Oh, wait. You're making fun of me.

That sounds good... I'm a bit fick it seems.... how do I upload a couple of my demo's ?

Sounds like a live recording of last night might be good enough to share. Watch this space (Well... not this precise space, more slightly to the left of this space.)

God, I am hungover.

Gawd my head hurts... most enjoyable way to get a sore head (and fucked hand)...

Good to hear about the recording dude...

Bear the hangoever with pride :-)

Speaking of photos anyone who wants to cpture us on film is more than welcome too :-)
Recording is rapidly becomming a idea at the front of our collective brains - sooner the better. There are some very blury photos available online but I'll leave it up to Eddy to decide if he want to post the url for them :-)

Scott

if you dont mind having shitty recordings of youre songs, you can always take the sound off the video and put it up on yo' site - it gives people an idea at least :P

when i start my band, ill call it the pol pot experiance. hmmm the factory seems like a cool place to loiter for jamming sessions

Hmm. That is like soooooo cool.
Naming a band after a murderer/dictator.
You get cooler with every post man.
While you're at it, call your first single 'Bin Ladens' Bitch'. That would be awsome.

Don't forget to tie me to a goal post and beat me with barbed wire and make me dig my own grave before shooting me. Please don't forget to do that.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
You should leave Lucifer_Sam alone. Whats a topic without him getting all angry and shit.

I dunno about others, but people 'pimping' their bands here has never bothered me. It's good to be able to find information about gigs etc. I suppose it could get over the top, (hasn't yet) but you'd hope receiving negative feedback from doing that would put people off doing it again. Go ahead, pimp off your band. It's absolutely fine.

If you pimp your band and you're good, your fans will end up pimping you.

If you pimp your band and you suck, you'll find out soon enough.

yeah - pimp away. I guess if you go overboard then people are gonna tell you to piss off soon enough

Well... I pimped pretty much constantly for a whole day, and no-one seems to have gotten too upset. Or maybe it is just that no-one pays any attention to me and my AWESOME band.

I actually have no idea if my pimping here actually resulted in anyone coming... no-one said hello. but there were quite a few people there...

Did anyone from 'round these parts actually come?

yes'm. and drank your beer. thanks :)

I think we actually had money left on the bar tab when I left too... When Darren left the bar staff said we have $16 on the tab, and about an hour later it was $24 left on the tab....

Ahhh who cares, beer was good, I hit stuff hard and had fun, and all was peachy in the world :-)

And you're welcome for the beer - I mean you were even labelled as 'Groupie!'

:-P
