orc-land

OK, I'm getting pretty fed up with listening to these namby-pamby capital-ists sqealing about all the great parties on in Wellington.

So - where are the parties?

Forums: NZ Music,

Well actually, Heather, I'm glad you asked. hmmmm, I think I may go see Revolver and The Slacks tonight at the Bollix. Then tomorrow Pine, Fang and Ejector are playing at the King's Arms. Ooooo, that'll be fun! Pity I'll miss the free Augustino gig out in Highland Park, but hey! they're doing a whole stack more gigs over the next coupla months. AND then 1QA are playing with Bolbox Rex on Saturday at the KA! Wow, what a weekend!

Wow, cool one, Heather! I was thinking of going to those too! Perhaps I'll see you there?

I can fairly much guarantee it.

I like how you mentioned some Wellington acts in there. Go Wellington!
umm, I mean yay, Auckland!

Actually, I'm really glad so many great Wellington bands are indulging us at the moment.

Grass is always greener, I guess.. Lotsa great Orc-land bands around, but.

heather my darling... i'm going to KA on friday as well so look out for me. i have short red hair and will be hitting on tclak.

Sweet as. I'll have an Emily the Strange bag on one arm, and a giant friend on the other.

hmm... tomorrow seems to be turning into a real nzm gathering. me, you, koe, tclak, mana(i think), maybe more?

you might see tlak strumming a few strings at the KA in fact...

...i mean on Friday night

//I'll have an Emily the Strange bag on one arm
HEATHER...where did you get it?!? i have been looking for one and with no luck.

//HEATHER...where did you get it?!? i have been looking for one and with no luck.
If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Nah, just kidding! Iko Iko in K Rd, Orc-land. You can order them online.

how was the music on friday night? i was almost there, but ended up working til 2 am :(

Pine were really great, Fang started a bit hesitantly but warmed into a really good set, Ejector were loud. The audience were really really crap. My giant friend was cranky. The highlight of my night was meeting Prozaco and Koe, and Blink briefly.

// you might see tlak strumming a few strings at the KA

so i gather...
do you think he will serenade me? [hopeful]

Well, next Wednesday at the Westend, The Brunettes are having their 'Boy Racer' EP party.

wooooooohooooooooooo!!!! Yup, already got that one booked!

Theres lots of orientation gigs coming up......... just hop along to your nearest uni...heh heh heh.

Eights playing sometime this week-if your into that.

Bollox Rex, So To Speak and 1QA (yes welly band but never mind) at the Kings Arms on Saturday.

Blindspott (cough) has a gig in Auckland tonight (the 27th).

Pine, Fang and Ejector which have already been mentioned.

Jester at the Temple on the 28th of Feb.

Sommerset at the Classic on the 28th

And yeah that's it I think.

sommerset tomorrow night?

Yep, apparently.

<? - do you care to elaborate.....like does that mean:

1/ ahem - check them out

or is that in fact

2/ I don't want to mention Blindspott for fear of people thinking I am uncool, in which case I simply cannot go on living as my self esteem is directly fed by what other people I hardly know might think of me.

Also, while I am threatening to whinge and complain, might Heather stop talking about her man so much - it ruins the idealist image all the man/boys and lady-loving-ladies on the site who like to picture a scantilly-clad Heather Mansfield look-alike typing furiously over her computer, sipping expensive red wine and reaching into her vault of wit to issue another IQ stretching comment of enlightenment and yet still be quite sexy while doing so

PS - I am an old man in a raincoat.

Please, plse tell me it's number one.

Aha! I don't have a man. I have some friends though. And one accomplice; a partner-in-crime if you will... And, as luck would have it, a backup-partner-in-crime for when my partner-in-crime is busy. And I decided a little while ago to stop whinging about that which wasn't meant to be, because it's unbecoming. So I'm about half a step ahead of you.

//scantilly-clad
hmmm, not quite sure whether I want to encourage that...aw, what the hell, knock yourself out.

//what the hell, knock yourself out.

erk, you could probably read a lot into that...not the most sensible choice of phrase...

I don't give a shit what people think of me including you, I just don't like blindspott, just like I don't like eight and I don't like rubicon.

go Soph_ie!

not to mention the internationals coming over.

groove armarder (spelling?) this sunday
moby on the 17th (dunno if you guys like his music, but i do lke some of it)
counting crows (on the 10th i think) for all you crows fans :P
ben harper on the 28th, auckland is stacked of gigs.

plus you got all the nz gigs in there too. god damn i am lovin march '03

correction thats Groove Armada.

why thankyou achilles :)

acid head

in other great auckland band news... the new kids on the auckland rock block are the scabs (sp? unsure), skinny white rural kids singing midwest white trash - they're ace.

Who's up for a night at the KA then? Meterman, Frontside Grind and PASELODE! YEAH! One more sleep to go! Wooooohoooooo!!!!

And in a somewhat retroactive attempt to make contact, was anyone at the Brunettes gig last night? Or Goodshirt? Niiiiiice...

me me me! i'm coming! (but you knew that)

anyone know how much its gonna cost?

I was at The Brunettes last night - loads of fun! I love the new ep too!

so... any good gigs this weekend?
next weekend?

i need stuff to do!

hmmm.... All the cool stuff was crammed into O-week.

Augustino & Jordan Luck's RocknRoll Circus on Friday at a venue delicately named the Outhouse... I'll probably go, although most of my friends would take an invitation as an insult.

However, Mother Guru CD release party at KA next Wednesday, supported by 1QA. That sounds pretty promising...

damn... pity its on a wednesday, otherwise i would go. not keen on getting up at 6am the morning after a gig (i'm a wuss).

augustino: this friday? i might have something on this friday... grr...

//not keen on getting up at 6am the morning after a gig
fair do's. I'm not keen on getting up at 11am the morning after a gig. If it makes it more possible, you're welcome to crash on my couch...it's a really comfy couch and all...

//any good gigs this weekend?...i need stuff to do!
//augustino: this friday? i might have something on this friday... grr...
hmmm, subtle. Is this your polite way of saying "ugh! Jordan Luck & Augustino at the Outhouse! Spare Me!"? Actually you won't be missing much, except for perhaps me trying to hit on the guitarist (which, as you can imagine, is not really the height of entertainment either). Their upcoming gig at the Bollix will be way better (ha! you're not here for that one either).

// Is this your polite way of saying "ugh! Jordan Luck & Augustino at the Outhouse! Spare Me!"?

actually it was more like my way of saying "i really want to go to summer jam but i don't want anyone to know about it"...

might take you up on your offer of a couch.... and then on thursday you can wake me with CAKE because its my birthday!

Go see Mr Lemon & Goon at the Dogs Bollix tonight (Wed 12 Mar 2003) Only $5. You won't be disappointed!

//Go see Mr Lemon & Goon
Hmm, maybe. Will you be there Big_Stu?

//actually it was more like my way of saying "i really want to go to summer jam but i don't want anyone to know about it"...
Ha ha!

//and then on thursday you can wake me with CAKE because its my birthday!
Oh, god, no! Another Pisces-Aries cusp! EEEEAAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!
I mean - yeah, great! We'll have cake...

hmm... did i miss something? i'm not a half/half, i'm 100% pisces thankyouverymuch!

Yep, I'll be there ...

// i'm 100% pisces thankyouverymuch
hmmm....ok then, I'll give you cake. But if I find out you were born in Europe in the evening, by corry, I'm taking that cake back again!

//so... any good gigs this weekend?

No but
Party, saturday !

// by corry

ahaha. I love that turn of phrase.

heather, i was born in europe... but in the morning. can i still have cake? :)

party? where?

awwww, yeah awright. Any excuse for cake. Especially birthday cake! Birthday Cake Is Better! Yay! Mother Guru and birthday cake! Woohoo!

between foodtown and town, hm, it's easy to get to. i don't know the address offhand

hmm... i think i missed something again.
i'm not going back to starmart to stand in the cooler again (as refreshing as it was) and have the attendant ask me if i am going to a fancy dress party. i don't look that scary! hmph.

koe, email me.
