Chaffer's Park Concert?

Saturday 1st March - Wellington

I keep hearing from bands all over the show that there is a concert in Chaffers park (Across the road from New World - skate park thing.) I have heard that Dana Eclair, Kamahi, Paselode and a shit load of others are on.

But I have not heard anything official at all! What is the story? Does ANYONE in this city actually know? The bands don't even know any details.

Forums: NZ Music,

I was talking to Adrian and he said that he was somehow involved with the organising of it... also The Lamps are playing (his little side project)... But honestly it all sounds uber-disorganised..

I'll be there, nothing gets me going like a free gig :-)

I'll see you there Eddie (actually I'll see you tinight firstly)

Also Mary Staple are apparently on the bill.

choice.

fwiw: "Marystaple" is one word. (pet peeve)

:D

Whiney bitch. :P

first ive heard of it.

but being at the age where beer-less and dope-less concerts are all but a distant memory, ill probably sit back saturday afternoon with a good book and a cup of greggs distinction.

can anyone confirm this please?

what time does it start?

Starts at noon. The Allen and Blair Streets will be closed from noon till midnight.

And goddamn... how terribly was THAT organised?

Yay Wellington City Council. Everything was set up and NO-ONE knew it was even there. I enjoyed myself anyway.

Of note:
The Lamps were very cool - all very nice originals, very talented.
Kamahi were even cooler than before. Violin player is a very good addition, yay for tripped out almost dub jams.
Dana Eclair were cool too. Looking forward to the album. Out soon apparently.

wasn't advertised very well i think. i went, missed the first two bands, and didn't listen to the rest. left during jacky tarr [or however you spell it] so i didn't get to see dana eclair which i wish i had stayed for now....bit pissed marystaple pulled out on friday night though.

mild audience really. the highlight for me was the bum sitting below the shrub a few metres from me....."ozzy ozbourne!! /m/"....

have to agree with that, i liked them. even if the lead singer's voice did resemble something of a sheep, but thats me just being anti - so ignore that. lol.

I wanted him to die. He was pretty wasted, huh? Making offerings (of stones, pieces of string, etc) to the bands that had girls in them.

Apparently when Po-ha was doing 'What I'm Waiting For,' he was screaming back 'World Revolution! World Revolution!'

Wellington has sure got it's characters, huh?

//I wanted him to die.

i think everyone wanted him to die....well, i didn't want him to die - i just wanted him to shut the fuck up.

//He was pretty wasted, huh?

that, and he's not quite right in the head......mentally i mean....

//Making offerings (of stones, pieces of string, etc) to the bands that had girls in them.

ba ha ha....i didn't see that, but that would've been funny to watch. i was standing up at one point making a bit of noise arounf my friends i was told to sit down other wise "the crazy guy will come over", ha ha.

//Wellington has sure got it's characters, huh?

so true - like the guy who walks around midland park/lambton quay who wears a cape with badges on it, and sometimes i tinfoil hat......he he.....

Hey! I see that guy every day at lunch time. Classic. He has his hat most of the time. He also carries a staff wrapped in tin foil.

The mood that day seemed to suit Kamahi's sound quite well, relaxed and sunny. I've got 'Stop the Bush-fire' in my head... :)

I keep getting Rebel Organics Fighter in there...

Damnit... me too now... Rebel Organics Fighter, nah nah na nah nah... Rebel Organics Fighter...

And then I read your first post again... and 'stop the bush fire' leaps into my head.

Good band. Worthwhile.
