I like this track a lot. It's kinda almost like the heavy dark of Headless Chickens, with a great overdrive ... very nice track. Looking forward to more from the Fanatics!

These are our first few shows so we'll probably be on early most of the time . . . .
well, the fanatics crashed at burned last night at the club bizarre gig. this could be due to the following reasons:
- they were drunk/weren’t drunk/weren’t drunk enough.
- IMO the vocals were too loud (or the rest of the music was not loud enough)
- total lack of instrumentation on stage. one guitar, (a smoke machine), and a backing track. maybe it’s just me, but when most of a gig is pre-recorded, it tends to grate me the wrong way. i came to see a live band and i got milli vanilli. they could at least give that guy who looks like roadie something to do other than point at people, use big swear words, and generally make an ass of himself.
- the terrifying point somewhere near the beginning of the set where it almost turned into a comedy routine (GONE BAD).
so all in all i have to say i was quite disappointed since i really enjoyed the mp3s i’ve heard from the fanatics so far. i realize though that this is one of their very first gigs, so i’ll probably go and check em out again on the 25th.
Kinda reminds me of a cover band I saw on saturday night, they had no drummer either, but I think they had a karaoke machine, because that all you could hear with the singers.
i saw the fanatics again last night and this time - i must admit - i was impressed. the sound was good, dr green seemed less drunk, the dancing girl was a nice touch and really made the stage seem alot less... err.... empty. also no comedy routine this time (although when the power cut, i feared the worst!)
good stuff. "small town motel" and the last song in the set were the ones that stood out most for me. what a fucken 180% improvement on last time - not that i think it could have gotten any worse.
doesn't look like the milli vanilli joke will die any time soon though.

the sound engineer didn't know what he was doing last night and pretty much fucked up the gig. it's a shame because tclak was really on fire, and dr green was pretty handy with the mini disc player too!
Will probably be at the Paradise Bar tomorrow night to check this out (if nothing else, I can make snide comments re: dr green's selection of electroclash; & I'll probably be the only person who'd consider dancing (insert obligatory-bitching-at-auckland-hipsters-remark . . . here)) - haha, if you read this, mysterious Fantatics people, feel free to bring along an extra CDR of yr "Buddy" cover, etc.

actually, you might find that the dancing girl the fanatics bring along may.... umm... consider..... dancing.
i think they've run out of CDR's, but come anyway! and if you see me, make sure you introduce yourself. i'm always up for meeting nzmers. i've got short bright red hair and will most likely be desperately trying to get tclak to sign my boobs.
