I only made it in time to see 4 Corners and Scribe. Got offended by their mysogeny (First lyric - Move, Bitch, Get Out The Way), so I went and checked out the Chinese New Year parade. That was kinda nice.
I missed 1QA and arrived in time to catch the last song of The Have's set, very loud. that is all I have to say about them.
I was totally amped about seeing Pluto, i've been wanting to see them for SOOOO long, and I finally did. I was really dissapointed by the sound system, it was utter crap! I think I developed a headache from all the feedback I was getting thrown my way. BUT!! - I LOVVVVVED 'Hey Little' and 'Chicken' and their new song '8 o'clock'. I esspecially loved mike's [guitarist] [i think thats his name] facials - soooo funny, theatrical, classic, i almost died of laughter from just watching him.
I stayed for all of 4 Corners and Scribe, but I kinda wandered around not really listening - as with Eddie I was a bit offended with the mysongeny - though I did laugh about it, it seemed a bit try-hard really.....I was pissed off with the white dj who stood there doing nothing, occassionally raising his hand to the music. gawd. I liked 'Syncronised Thoughts' - thats a goood song.
i thought it was "boom! bitch"...shows how much i know....anyway, yeah i founf that song entertaining...i didn't want to to, but i quite like unique. Even though he did look like eminem and the DJ looked like p-money.
It was a good day. A nice mix of bands, metal/rock'n'roll/indie/hiop hop.....almost something for everyone.
i'm REALLLL pissed i missed 1QA, i've been wanting to see them again for ages [that gig on the wharf didnt do them justice at all]. apparently [according to hails] they were great...
i wondered where you were heading off to jj - thought you were being a band snob, like so many other wellyites around here....
oh - i almost forgot - i found it soooo funny that on the side of the stage there was a piece of paper with the words "please note, this is a public area, so please keep swearing and obscenities down to a minimum" - or words to that effect - funny because in practically everyone of those hip hop songs every second word was a swear word... i'm suuuure they cranked up the volume for 4 corners and scribe......

yea i'd have to agree with that, i actually spend far to much time in that shop just looking, never buying cause it's generally way overpriced. but yes, real groovy is all good. is it sad that i hiked alllll the way up cuba st four days in a row last week just to go to real groovy?

those bands seem to frequently pump out their sounds in and around welly, but not the hip hoppers. i thought you of allll people might've wanted to experience something a bit different.....hmmm, i make it sound like i was bothered by you not being there....lets just clarify: thats not the case. i simply wondered why u skipped a [fairly good] headlining act?
the rap was fucking awful. move or boom bitch get out da way. whatever, absolutely garbage and unigue has to be the biggest piilock this country has produced (so we are talking about him being at the top of a very big list of people myself included).

well it was the fact that one sentence earlier he said 'hello how are you etc etc' in his normal voice and then he started going "yo yo what up blah blah blah' in an american accent. i dont give a fuck when they sound american during the actual rapping part cos quite frankly kiwi voices rapping sound fucking stupid (case in point- dark tower) but when they are just talking and he goes from kiwi to yank in like the same sentence well it sounded very strange to me.
