I just recently bought Peter Gabriel's "Up" (Virgin/Realworld 2002), and I'm digging track one 'darkness'... it goes from dark and industrial, then to beautiful and fragile... Peter Gabriel is a genius.

Sorry guys for posting a non-sensical post but this song is far too good to stay in the shade. "The Bitter End" by Placebo is purely a sensation, i'm really into it right now because its well um Placebo my favourite band ever and besides its like a cross of some songs of Black Market Music and Without You I'm Nothing. It's also got a bit of a Queens of the Stone Age influence. It sounds very promising prior to the new album (Sleeping with ghosts) and i can't wait!!!! And by the way if anyone cares i got to listen to it as a sneak preview from their website.

Mellow RHCP?
Behind The Sun was a pretty mellow song I thought, on their 3rd album "Uplift Mofo Party Plan".
But apart from that, I don't think the Chilis have ever been as mellow as they are now. The old albums are all either funky or punky or both - except for their pure comedy routines, like 'Thirty Dirty Birds' or 'Mommy Where's Daddy'.
I assume you've heard Blood Sugar Sex Magic? That was their first genuine attempt at some mellow stuff.

Just today I've been listening to:

Jamiroquai
Brendan Perry (ex- Dead Can Dance vocalist)
Praxis
I reckon I'll put on some Faith no More for nostalgia's sake in an effort to avoid listening to Jeff Buckley yet again, I can't seem to stop playing his CDs. Then I'm off to play some funk on Saturday, check out Disturbed on Wednesday and then play support for 8' Sativa on Thursday at the Jetset.
Actually, if I chuck in some Beethoven between now and then, this coming week couldn't be more eclectic.

A couple of albums I have had for a while now, they'd been on a shelf, but I pulled them out to have a listen and am so impressed with them are:
Satina Saturnina "Clitoris Goddess" - I think that experiencing the elctroclash micro-phenomenon has given me fresh ears for what she's doing. Still some absurdities, but there are standout tracks on this, like "2 Bit Angel (One bit Whore)"
Space Dust "No Kissing in Public". Wow! When I first heard this, it just seemed a bit too random on lo fi for me, but agin, I'm really getting into this vibe - "Ringing Endorsement", "Too Much Action"... Have always like "Love is Mean".
