hey tiff, why didnlt you just ask stefan? i'm sure hed teach you., but first mayeb you should get a bass? or carrey on with your drums. i coudl teach you over Msn LOL, but nah keep up with ur new tune, HaromicA Genorator ...... great song!
i would teach you, i'm grade 6 in theory and play bass, but i'm a fucking horrific teacher. i'm so impatient i would probably smash the bass guitar over your head before you actually learn anything.
I reckon I would be same as you but teaching drums, I've shown friends somethings but teaching strangers now thats scary. I've been asked many times but refused
lol...i don't really feel too keen on being beaten with a guitar...lol :P...haha thanx anyway..i think! :D
I used to play drums...but then after talking to stefan from sommerset i decided to take up bass! He told me he thinks it's an excellent choice! I actually have on tape me complaining i can't play guitar and him telling me how easy bass is! lol. I agree with him too, that i should try it, if thats the case! lol :P
and there's just somethin bout bassists...(males that is...:p) ;) he he he
i taught my friend some bass, i'm a good teacher :-) but i live a fair way away... and i'm so bad i wouldn't have much to teach you anyway....well i'm ok but...meh, find someone half decent.
so true.
its weird how alot of girls go for bass.
i started on guitar but had major issues playing chords (how sad) so i moved on to bass.
bass gat rules. i think its underrated!
one really weak finger that i broke when i was little. i just couldn't get it to hold down a fucking string. i try to not use it when i play bass, although it has been getting alot stronger in the last couple of years.
Hey i play bass. I tried guitar out but..it frustrated me. I couldn't strum for some reason,....i don't know, i find it really hard. So i started BASS and voila! But now i'm teaching myself guitar again. So it's all good. And besides bass sounds beautiful. I love it, much nicer sounding than guitar. I'm glad i screwed up guitar, because then i fell into bass. whoo hoo!
i find it funny when people give me crap about learning bass, you know, too crap to play guitar.... then i pull out faster solos than them anyway... well the rather average guitarists at least...
yes i know, bass solos arent meant to be about speed :-P
yeah but I'd been playing it for 2 or 3 years & couldn't get the hung of it, plus I only started to join a band for a talent quest, couldn't have two drummers in that band.
i didn't think so... untill i started trying to adapt a jazz like style, Jaco Pastorius (yeah, I wish) style of playing.
I started learning bass because i figured it would be easier to get started on than guitar (which i still believe is true, for me at least)... but then i pretty quickly fell in love with the instrument... its just so soulfull or something... just something cool about it i guess (i'm guessing thats with anyone and there first selected instrument?)
oh yes, www.activebass.com... this site is really good, there are online lessons to play along to. Some one will tab something and it will play the bass line, so you can play along and get the rhythm right... its really cool, even if you don't play.. you can sign up and create your own bass lines on line and then have them play back to you....
I heard Bass strings cost like up to 25 bucks each? I'm not sure could someone clear this up? Anyway from what i remember from going into the rockshop with an old friend of mine years ago to get some bass strings i remember he paid 25 bucks for one string.
a pup? would you mind elaborating? I'm not sure about the Wellington rockshop but the CHCH one's alright, apart from the rip off prices. Besides we don't have a weta guitar shop in chch, theres not much choice where to go in chch if you want strings and stuff.
a crybaby for 450? What a rip! The rock shops pedals are a joke, especially the ibanez ones which are like 200 each and over. And their string prices are rising depending on the thickness, i use a .56 for the 6th and its like 4 bucks and .62 ones are like 7 bucks.
Yeah the rockshop has given me free stuff as well with real expensive deal. I got a Zoom effects Pod from them and distortion pedal that cost 200 but they cut it down to 1000 bucks. THey even chucked in some leads and pedals. Infact once i just came in to see if this lead that was stuffed was possible to fix but they just gave me a free one instead.
You can get very good (in my opinion) Warwick bass strings for $25 a set from the Wellington Rock Shop (although I do agree with you Saul that sometimes their service is less than fantastic).......failing that Mel at Weta guitars sells a set of Howling Wolf (I think) bass strings for about $30 and he swears by them......
Bye!
Check out the site at the bottom of the page too....one of the best bass sites I've seen (now that the Libster's gone)
I think the prices at the rockshop (chch) are probably the best they've been really... see the Jacksons they've got down there at the moment? Fixed bridge 7-strings for 899 thats not too bad, especially if you were after your 1st guitar....
a few years back when I put my guitar head, they gave me a pretty good trade in on my crusty Ibanez ex-series, dinosaur :)
//Rickenbacker guitars are, without a doubt, far superior to Fender, Gibson et al.
man, how much crack do YOU smoke. i can get more tone out of a peice of 2x4 and some rubber bands than out of a rickenbaker!
