led zep were definately great musicians, i only recently brought the cd and loved it:D guess it sais alot about them that someone can buy the cd how many years later and still enjoy it without the music being "out of date"

Queen are awesome! Brian May makes the guitar squeal and fly like noone else - 'Waaaahhhh', etc.

Beatles - and in the last year or so I keep going back to John Lennon's 'Plastic Ono Band' - man, that is probably the most human record I've ever heard... so real.

I'm also partial to a little Hendrix, Sabbath, Thin Lizzy (oops..), Velvets/Lou Reed, Neil Young, Bowie (esp. Ziggy - amazing songs - proto Queen?), Television, errr who else - Stooges, Bob Dylan (got my tickets - ooh yeah!). The old guys are where it's at - they were all so inventive - maybe it's just the period before rock stardom had been established as a viable career.

god yes - i love classic rock.
jimmy page is 'the man' as far as im concerned. his style is/was so inventive and utter brilliance. led zep, pink floyd, aerosmith, queen, king crimson and black sabbath are definately song of the best bands i have ever heard.
old folky stuff from that era is awesome as well - bob dylan, janis joplin - ahh it's all good.
i really wish i was alive in that era

What about the slightly less well known bands from this era - thanks to my visit down south, I've been listening to Spirit, Spooky Tooth and a psychedelia sampler - would love to expand my knowledge in this area. Sensattional Alex Harvey Band anyone? And, if you're going to mention Neil Young, there is only a small jump to a band named in my profile - Flying Burrito Brothers.

There's this band called the Edgar Winter Group that are fucking amazing. Total prog with tons of tricks, but thay totally rock-some of the best musicianship I've ever heard. Late 60s/early 70s i think. Edgar Winter is an albino.

beethoven, vivaldi, alice cooper, king crimson, ma-ha-vish-nu-orchestra, cat stevens, but then good music is timeless the rest is hype

This just goes to show how diverse the Rock scene is. The sheer variety of selections is amazing! And I can't really disagree with any of them too much. All have produce songs that can be classified as Rock Classics ... in a broad sense. Though I don't consider much after the mid - late 70's as Classic Rock. (Which is when I purchased the Album Classic Rock, featuring the LSO (NOT ELO!!!) plying some gorgeous covers of such notable songs as Bohemian Rhapsody and Paint it Black ... so cool)

So I guess while I love a lot of, say Blondie's stuff, it isn't Classic Rock for me.

But who really cares???
