These guys sicken me.

They started out as an alice in chains cover band, then decided to write 'original' songs and kept their name and denied that they were ever a cover band.

They stole their freakin name from an alice in chains song off dirt.

They use a sun logo. Blatent copy. Check out dirt. Covered in suns that layne staley drew and came up with for the album.

Listen to sullys voice. He has times he has such a layne sound going its fucking deplorable. Too bad the rest of the band is not even close to being as talented as Jerry, Sean, and Mike.

Everyone has their influences and you can't really hide them, but godsmack are way too blatant with this ripping off..

And Layne was the reason Sully started singing... so he said after Layne Stanely passed away

I was actually thinking similar things to you last night when i heard voodoo on the radio, i really dislike that song... i think they were trying for something along the lines of a 'down in a whole' or something... they just can't pull it off...

as i say (i'm sure many other more important people have said it first), its better to be the band those other bands sound like, than be the band that sounds like that other band....

I like Godsmack.

But it is offputting how (well, this is how it comes off to me as being) that Sully is so arrogant and proud and.. well, being a singer seems to have gone to his head.

yeah you like them and think they're real good because you HAVEN'T HEARD THE BAND THEY'RE RIPPING-OFF. How the fuck have you managed to never hear any material from the best band to come out of seattle in the early 90s?

PUSA didn't come out until the mid 90s...... the drummer was in a band called 'Love Battery' in the early 90s (if I remember correctly)

Godsmack are ok but nothing great, I like the second album.. I dont really think they are ripping off Alice in chains though... many bands are named after one of there favorite songs or a song anyway. But I do think that AIC were one of the best bands around, Layne had a fuckin cool voice. Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff is also good to.

Well i love soundgarden, and rate them better than alice in chains... Nirvana is my fave... but its all just taste. Not everyone is going to be the same.
