Dylan Taite

Forums: The Bar,

RIP

Whoops, forgot to write anything...

I heard the man has just passed away. What a wierd guy he was, both in appearance (an old guy with long greasy hair didnt work for me) and the way he acted. I guess what I find wierder was how he happily managed to jump between TV3 and TVNZ and both seemed willing to take him in.

My favourite Dylan Taite moment was when he interviewed the Bloodhound Gang and felt compelled to give them a good telling off over doing a song that made fun of the drummer of Def Leopard. I also loved the Mikey Havoc impersonations of him.

Oh well, I guess it leaves a bit of a gap out there. After all, I'm all for wierd people on the telley.

Anybody out there got some fave Dylan Taite moments?

I am sad to see him go - he's been around for ever - he joined whatever TVNZ was called in 1970. What I did not know is that he has been producing the Sunday show, we can in fact watch his last work this upcoming Sunday when there will be an interview he did with Moby. Glad to see his end came quickly - feeling a bit unwell yesterday, then a coma, then he was gone within hours.

I can't remember any specific interviews - just the random nature of them and the wierd camera angles used in filming them, the occasional band obviously wondering what the f*ck they'd struck when interviewed by him.

Bummer, I remember when he was on Nightline a few years back.

i saw the man in real groovy last week. he was the first famous person i saw in auckland. so i guess he kept going till the end. who would want it any other way?

I was waiting at a pedestrian cross. The green man came on and I was about to step out onto the crossing when along came a sneaky motorist trying to get round the corner on a orange - whoops - red light. I looked to see who was driving. It was Dylan Taite!

My mum never liked him. I think it was the whole aging hippy thing.

But it was nice to see someone on TV news a) not wearing a suit and b) not with a furrowed brow trying to look serious.

i can recommend tv3 news. they have an added degree of perspective

dagnammit. that always happens.

there is a parallel thread in the news section in case anyone missed it
