Are garage rock bands the new boy bands? Stand by for a ridiculous infulx, radio saturation, and (eww) onstage dancers, shorter, less rock names with more numbers in them.
I only like the song!!!....when i said they rocked at the bdo, i didn't actually see them as such, but i heard them for a bit and they played Right On so i liked them....
The Have are all still in high school right? They all seem to know how to play their instruments and they are playing the style of music that is popular at the moment. They can rock on with what they have, and get a lot of fans... as they age, their music will mature and they'll become great...
The Have pretty much had the rockquest won before the finals due the doco being made and the way a rock and roll band could slip into the current climate and ride on the tails of others. Its bandwagoning at its most horrific. But the band are not guilty of this as they are just doing what they feel like. Its the others that are simply trying to manufacture a sensation and some public success.

To 'qualify' to get a page on this site, I'm pretty sure the band has to send in a bio, mp3s etc. Look in the help section? For The Have to get a page, they should sign up for the artists section. It's not the crews responsibility to go find every NZ band & make sure they're on.

And The Have aren't? It doesn't seem purely coincidence they just happen to share genres with The Datsuns and The D4. It's fine they are obviously playing music they love but they don't seem anything original. And they list Led Zeppelin as one of their main influences along with other "The" titled bandwagon rock bands such as The D4, The Strokes, The Datsuns. If someones bandwagonning its most the rock bands that have ever existed that were heavily influenced by Zeppelin.

Fact is, as far as I am aware, The Have have been playing rock for years. "Dirty" rock, as many label it, is npt new or old, it is just the cyclical movement of muic and its hybrid forms - "There's nothing new under the sun" - sure - but there's usually nothing exactly the same either.
So many cliche, automatic response comments about anyone doing well is also nothing new - it's a hybrid form of the tall-poppy syndrome...and when's all said and done, it basically leaves your mind lying on the treadmill, fag in hand, half-asleep, trying to remember a time when it had independent thought.
Yeah, followed by the inevitable "hmph, obviously *someone* doesn't know much about *true* art...I'll bet you even like the pop churned out by the Royal Academy. pff!"

As much as i hate to say this The Have are tight musicians, they play well together and they seem to have fun but their "mass amount" of talent isn't always enough to sway people to like them. I'd take listening to PJ Harvey's downgraded sound to The Haves "loug guitars"
